No props for hiring that see you next Tuesday Michelle Beadle...and interviewing Bruce Kardashian? Give me a freakin' break.
The "talking heads" yapping away on screen when they could have shown women's 800m semis. They found time to show the men's 800m. Men's 10k...all the hype over Ritz trying to make the A then they delete the clock after Rupp finishes! Embarrassing coverage!
Why can't they just move things along filling spots with field events or events held earlier instead of the mindless interviews?
I guess "better than nothing" was NBC's goal. They get the Gold.

Both the women's and men's 800 semi-finals were scheduled to be completed prior to NBC starting their broadcast at 5pm Pacific. A 20 minute rain delay during the women's 100m hurdles pushed the men's semi from its scheduled time of 4:45 to 5:01.

You must be like 13 to not know Bruce Jenner. I, for one, was happy to see some of the tribute to past decathletes. And the timing was perfect as it led into the 1500 and WR. Great job, NBC!

Show how much you know. Cool people don't even head out the door until 11:00 or so.
Cool married people with kids don't go anywhere Saturday night. There's a lot of people home, watching TV.
I was actually out at a bar last night around 9-10. The bar had a TV. Guess was on? We can all complain that they didn't get things perfect, but this was a massive improvement. Thumbs up nbc.
Mixed reviews for NBC. Im happy that they extended coverage so we could watch the women's 100m Final. And they did a very good job of covering the major events of the day. But the telecast had a horrible start to it. They started the telecast with two heats of the men's 800 meter semi finals. What is the single most important piece of information when you cover a semi final? Yes, to inform the viewers the specifics of how many people qualify for the final. You tell the viewer how many automatic qualifiers there are, and you tell everyone how many people go to the final based on time. Before, during, and after the race, the viewers were left guessing which athletes qualified for the Men's 800 meter Final. On the TV screen they only showed the top fopur finishers in each semi final. They did not show Mark Wieczorek's name because he finished 5th in the 1st heat. Wieczorek qualified for the Final but nobody knew it because NBC nmessed up. Im a knowledgable track fan and I didn't even know the specifics of who made the 800m Final. Memo to Dwight Stones. Please get this cleared up now. We have another week of track and field, and we can
't have this kind of mistake happen again. I am trying to be constructive in my criticism. Thank you!!!
Even if they had gone off on time show clips of both, just the last 200m of each would have been nice, instead of the inane, time consuming interviews. Track & Field fans want to "see" track & field.
Agreed that the coverage has been good, commentators have also been good. There used to be lots of complaints on here about commentators. Nice to see NBC has a good crew.
I like how they hired that British guy to do the 10k. He is very knowledgeable, God would it have been terrible to listen to the normal NBC announcers during that race. They probably realized there was going to be 16min of coverage and without another guy couldn't fill the time with things to say.
Yes I agree with a lot of the posts on here so far NBC is off to a good start. If they weren't able to get the women's semi in the 800 because of a reschedule that is ok.
--Bringing out the old Decathalon greats was awesome. I wish they would do that with every event. Showing the sport some respect.
But what was with the stupid girl announcer making Dan O Brian justify the title "World's Greatest Athlete" and then comparing him to such greats as Michael Jordan, and A f#cking racing horse. Are you kidding me?
"Dan O' Brian, why do you think you deserve to be the title "world's greatest athlete" over some of history's greatest such as Secrateriat the racing horse"
This coverage has been great to watch (although watching it LIVE on the west coast would have been better); yet, it seems to me that there could have been at least a 15 second glimpse where NBC covered highlights of the women's 800 on Saturday.

I'm sorry you missed the sarcasm in her voice. If you ever watched her show on ESPN (Sports Nation), Michelle Beadle doesn't fall for the normal traps of most sports shows.
They did a very good job with the 10k. It's nice not having to hear idiotic comments every ten seconds from Larry.
but I miss Carol Lewis. Wasn't she great??

Exactly why I quit watching the Endless Sports Propagandist Network years ago.

I salute them. My only gripe is an obvious one, which is that they STILL gave Lolo Jones more attention than they gave Dawn Harper. It's a little sickening.
in all fairness, if you were alone in a room with both, you'd give lolo jones a lot more attention too, or at least i would anyway

Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
