I think if the kid had held back a little bit before that 1:51 800m split maybe he could have won it.
Glad to see a North African back near the top. The good ol' days of El G and Morceli are sorely missed!

350 mile gets you 7th place ?
Well, actually it got him 8th place, but who's counting?

Well, he's already a better candidate to medal in London, at age 17, than Galen is at age 26. I knew one of you would have to bring Rupp into the discussion. I hadn't mentioned him.

He'll be 8th or 9th in the 1500m final at best, if he even makes it. He doesn't have the experience or strength. And, he's on some PED, unlike Galen. Meanwhile the Great White American Hope contends for Olympic 10000 gold.

So you know that this young star from Qatar is using PEDs and you know that Galen Rupp is not. I'm not going to point fingers, but there is no more reason to suspect Hamza Driouch than to suspect Galen Rupp. I think that Hamza's opponents are going to be feeling the last 4 letters of his last name when he gets done with them.
Was already labeled as the next El Guerrouj last year:

And in 2010 (although mostly focused on his 'countryman' Al-Garni:

Also ran 1.46 as a 15-year old.
2.17 1,000m (in what looks like a very small meet, says world youth record, not sure if that's correct)
yeah - what a fraud. Does he really think we are that easy to fool?!??

WOW, he can run a 3:50 AND he wrestles bears? This kid is amazing.
Don't think he will last long ... exit pursued by beard (Jessica maybe)
Do Moroccans have the same problems as Kenyans when it comes to forgetting how old they actually are?

I think it's more that Qataris have problems with morals when it comes to cheating at sport.
Although given the Moroccan propensity to cheat whenever possible, I would imagine it's not a big stretch that this guy is age cheating and drug cheating.
Yes, he is the real 1000m world youth record holder at 2:17.44. He really is 17.
up the rabbits ass from the gun. he looks like a world beater.
It's impossible to tell if someone will be "the next" such-and-such just because they run fast at an early age. It is just as likely that this kid will never be any faster and he'll fade into oblivion within a year or two. When someone out there actually approaches El G's outstanding records then we can start talking the possibility of a new King.

I believe that's a typo.
I am sure it is supposed to say that he had a full BEER when he was 15.
He's quite the drinker now.
Wowzers. When you facter in the comonly axepted East/Nothe Afrecan age conversian of 1.24, that meens a man of 21 ran 3:50 and that is nuthing to sneaze at.
hmmm... i'm willing to bet he can get a pretty stellar education in qatar.
Does anyone know who coaches these Qatari athletes?
Do they all have the same coach?
Do they train together?
Do they pay big bucks to bring in the top coaches from around the world?
unlike most of the other junior world beaters, this Hamza Driouch looks to be something close to his age claim.
check out the "youths" in this race...
hamza looks youngest....
some of the africans look more like mid to late 20's
this is a great run, check out the positioning of hamza...

one glance tells me all i need to know.
something will have to go terribly wrong for this guy not to be world #1-3, probably in 2 or 3 years.
check it. a ryan el-g hybrid.
Hamza Driouch trains in the Swedish woods during summer. Maybe that's the reason he runs fast!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
