And if I was dating a 29yo girl who told me she was a virgin, I would assume she has serious issues that I don't want to deal with. Jesus-issues, daddy-issues, uncle-in-the-closet-issues...
This. Women who stay virgins generally have issues with men. Speaking from 2x personal experience.
Unsurprisingly, Lolo had a rough childhood and a felonious dad:
http://www.ocregister.com/sports/jones-355520-lolo-olympics.htmlI wish her the best and hope she meets that one great guy who "saves" her ... but it's a long shot.
I thought he was getting some on the reg....little did I know. He was a shy, nice guy however. She was into a few of the XC guys, but they couldn't handle her.

It's hard for us too
I remember the last 'virgin' & what happened to her. Oops I did it again!
Usually, I just roll my eyes at someone who feels the need to talk publicly about how they want to stay a virgin until marriage, but knowing what I know about how Lolo's crappy childhood, I find I just want to give her a hug and tell her that yes, there is a someone out there for her and that person will love her and take care of her right.
Wonder if a part of it goes as far back as a 13-14 year old girl's realization that getting pregnant and becoming a teenage mother would likely get her a life in the ghetto in Des Moines, such that you can find a ghetto in Iowa.
Why all the hype , Lolo has been out of it for what now two years ?
She by no counts is a slam dunk to make the team.
Without question struggles with the mental aspect of the sport.
Whack job is what some would say about her.
she could date 2/3rds of the guys here and stay one
Have fun getting STDs you freaks.
Is this supposed to be ironic? Making feeling women feel like sh*t? Brilliant? Childhood trauma informs her views on sex? She is going to be happier in the end? (Closeted) lesbians being more open about premarital sex? I am still looking for the punchline...

Have you considered that you might never get married?
Yeah, I might not. Whatever.

Honey, when you have your first "eyes rolling back in your head-toe curling vaginal orgasm" then you'll wonder why you didn't start having sex earlier in life. All you need is a taste to cure you of that virginitis.
Oh. Nah, I don't think I'll regret respecting my body the way I want to respect it.

And in fact many letsrunners prefer virgins because they dread comparison.
Zero chance she doesn't masturbate. NO way. In fact, I dare any of you on here to say you don't. It's impossible for guys, we are hardwired to procreate, and it's a no brainer than you can't go more than a few weeks without. Prove me wrong.
And women: Quite BS'ing. My wife does it. I ask her, she says no, and I know for a fact she does. About twenty times more than she lets on. Fact. EVEN when we're banging like crazy every night.

You feel pleasure during sex so that you will continue to have sex.
Where is your disagreement with what I already pointed out? Are old people supposed to stop having sex because they know they can no longer reproduce? You're American Taliban.
Even without Clintonian prevarication carpet-munching doesn't count so, yeah, she's a "virgin".
I am the exact same as Lolo. I am 30 years old and a virgin by choice. I am male by the way. I date girl but my choice to be a virgin also makes it easier to choose the right girl. I am very picky when it comes to that.
I don't conform to society and it's demands of me. Once two people are married they should grow together in the bedroom and it should be a new chapter of their life. My wife will be a virgin as will I. Secnd hand is for charity shops not sexual relationships!
I guess you don't conform to society's apostrophe expectations, either.
Lolo is a beautiful woman and talented athlete. Why is there all of this criticism about her statement? I believe that all people should have a choice about what they will do with their bodies. It isn't an easy path to follow, but she believes in it, for what ever reasons, and it is important to her, and she has struggled to achieve. What isn't inspirational about that?
I think we should be respectful of Lolo for her decision to wait until marriage for sex. She shared one of the most personal things about herself, and people are on here mocking her and alleging that she is a lesbian, etc. Give the woman a break! She didn't say anything religious in the article, for all I know, her choice has nothing to do about religion. And if it did, it still shouldn't matter.
I am a 29 year old male, and I have had sex. Some of the women I had sex with I regret. It was meaningless and I felt terrible afterward. Two of the long-term relationships I had went through pregnancy scares. We used protection, but it still happened, and it would have completely changed all of our lives. Getting a woman pregnant is a lousy reason to be with the person. It should be the other way around. I do not believe in abortion, and if a woman that I was with chose something like that, then I would have incredible self guilt. So, I can understand forgoing a little pleasure now, to have incredible pleasure later with a marriage partner for life.
I've always thought that Lolo was gorgeous, and from her interviews she seems sweet. I know little more about her, but knowing that she has personal convictions that she will not compromise makes her even more attractive. Lolo, if you are ever in NY, I'd love to take you out on a date!
I don't have a problem with people who choose abstinence...just with people who choose to proselytize about abstinence.
Who was proselytizing? If anyone on this thread is guilty of that, it's the people shouting out against her.
Everywhere you look, TV, music, movies, sports icons, pop culture, makes sex seem trivial and harmless.
Good for Lolo to say something that tells women that it's ok not to give away your body. And that, yes, it is a hard decision to make, and some guys may try to take advantage of you, but that if you want to stand for what you believe in then it can be done.
Is she telling the world that they should follow her? No. Should she hide in shame? She shouldn't be forced to do that either.
How many young woman feel forced to have sex before they are mentally ready? I have no idea, but I'd imagine that there are women (and men) out there, who see what happens on TV and in pop music today who think that they need to have sex in order to be cool. And there are few attractive and influential woman with the courage to actually say that they are waiting for the right moment to have sex.
