right now doing 20 a minute until i get too tired to do anymore than 10 a minute then take a 5 min rest and keep repeating until i hit 1000.
any other bodyweight circuits to do? just want to get as ripped as possible but don't have a gym!!

any other recommendations for bodyweight exercises. (abs would be great)
mostly aesthetic but some core strength for running wouldn't be bad.
any suggestions at all for good aesthetic/functional bodyweight exercises you don't need a gym for???
yes, doing 1000 pushups a day will make you ripped. I doubt you will be able to maintain it though.
why not? just did 450 in sets of 10-20 with 1 min break and then 3 min break split into 3 sets. will repeat that in like an hour and do it every day!
plus going to run on before this. and do a strength workout later in evening. need to get ripped quick!
is there anything wrong with this? is there more efficient exercises/better way? pushups seem pretty much like a staple.

yes, its called "weight lifting"...... -_-
doing that as well. in the afternoon.
plan is run/pushups mid day
skip/weights evening.
Just was curious if turning the pushups into some sort of circuit using a variety of bodyweight exercises might be better. don't want to make it too complicated though and just used pushups because thought it was a pretty efficient exercise in getting ripped and 1000 is a reasonable and challenging goal
To get "ripped", you need to have less bodyfat so your muscles are defined. Run more.
not just run more. People always go to this for less bodyfat but doesn't quite work like this. Someone will probably correct me about specifics of it but when you run, you're burning fat as well as muscle so you could be thin and still not be defined, running more might not change that much. Lower bodyfat by eating better as well as the running and then weightlifting to increase muscle and get rid of fat.
yeah this is what this is meant to do. Plus I'll be doing that fad pale diet - not a huge fan but will be good short term to lean up quick.
also doing circuit training and weight lifting will be good to gain muscle and drop fat.
You seem to be looking for a very quick fix.
Probably not the best starting point.
Stop being such a girly man and do 5000 a day like me
You cannot gain muscle and drop fat at the same time (well, unless you have never trained or worked out before in your life, ie a complete newbie). To gain any muscle, you need a calorie surplus for the muscle to grow, and with the calorie surplus you can't lose fat.
Best way to get ripped is to do intensive lifts near max effort.
Instead of 1000 pushups do 10 but add some weights on your back or try to clap twice in the air between a pushup.
Pullups with a weight belt is also a good one. Obviously lifting weights near max.
And of course, short explosive sprints. This will get you ripped fast. 15 x 50m all out.
well no, 10 reps is in the hypertrophy range so this will get me big but not ripped and defined. for that you need more sets/reps higher volume for strength type exercises.
and yeah i agree the sprinting could be good but probably longer volume for interval type stuff so i can drop some fat too.
and of course you can gain muscle and drop fat at the same time. read a physiology text.
lol, OK.
I happen to be very ripped doing exactly that but I'll stop immediately and listen to you mr. expert. Wouldn't want to have hypertrophy deer god how horrible.
Pullups. Lots of them.

Actually, push-ups are fantastic for your abs! 1,000 is more than I've ever done in a day (I think). I think that you are going to be sore tomorrow...

Let me know when you quit.
Yes, there are better ways. Work a muscle group, then give it two days to recover. I would probably do pushups, pullups, and squats in a 3-day rotation. And even that isn't optimal. But it's better than 1000 pushups every day.
First, you can't outrun or outlift a crap diet. Rippedness originates in the kitchen. Google 'paleo lifestyle.' Second, ultra high reps aren't what you want. Buy some used weights (the market is flooded), and squat and deadlift in the 5 to 8 rep range. Ideally 3 sets, but most of the benefit can be had with 1 set. 2 or 3 times per week. Maybe add bench presses or dips.
It's not complex at all. It's 'hard' in terms of avoiding standard american food. Even the weight work, if you're not trying to enter Mr. Olympia, doesn't need to be that draining. When your form starts to slip, you're done.
