This whole debate is ridiculous. Like most debates, both sides has its idiots.
As a gun owner, I don't get where the fear of guns comes from. If you've ever handled a gun (from reading this, I'm guessing 99% of you have not), a fear of GUNS makes no sense. It's like being afraid of any other inanimate object that, in and of itself, has no power to harm you.
As cliche as it sounds, the old adage that "Guns don't kill people, people kill people" is 100% true.
Be scared of the man or woman who has the capability of losing their temper and killing another person in a fit of rage. Be scared of the drunk that suddenly loses his ability to see right and wrong. Be scared of the moron kid who wants to impress his friends. Be scared of the gangster wannabe who wants to be accepted by his clique. Be scared of the drug addict or alcoholic who will steal and rob to get their fix.
Find a way to fix these problems, rather than pointing fingers at a lifeless object.
