This country has too many guns. Any sociopath can get one. This sociopath killed a pastor's husband for no reason. When will we wake up and say enough is enough?

Guns don't kill people...the mentally ill and "urban youths" kill people.
This was gang related. It's not racist to be aware of your surroundings.

The shooter was possibly mentslly ill and 'urban youth' but hardly gang related!!! Just some losers with nothing better to do which makes this so bloody awful.

I'm just reading what the police in the article say.
Maybe in Canada you don't have to worry about these things, but here in the United States we are overflowing with violent ghetto thugs with their gangsta mentality.

It's a little known fact, but there were actually no murders before guns were invented.
If people want to murder someone they should earn it and work a little harder.
Pulling a trigger is way too easy.
um, yeah, more laws would be great! outlawing marijuana and cocaine has been so wildly successful at eradication

And how come these people have so many guns in the United States, but not elsewhere? Might it have something to do with how easy it is to buy guns here?

So we should make people work harder to defend themselves, too? People that rob, kill, etc. do not follow laws, so why would one concerning guns be any different? The people buying guns legally are usually not the ones out hurting others.

The war on drugs is a big part of the problem. Our prisons are so full of nonviolent offenders that we can't give violent criminals the sentences they should get. The day you are found guilty of depriving someone of committing an unprovoked violent act, you should go to prison until you die. Violent criminals have no place in a civilized society and should never be free.
I'm sick of hearing about guys with criminal records a mile long committing yet another crime. If your criminal record is a mile long, why are you free? Forget the war on drugs. Let's fight the war on violence.
Another thing. Ever notice how we treat child molesters like scum? Why don't we treat violent criminals the same way? If a coworker told you that they had been in trouble for groping a 12 year old boy, you'd be repulsed. In fact, many people would be fine with the state cutting off the guys balls. But when a guy tells people that he went to prison for armed robbery, people immediately want to "give him a second chance" so that he can "get his life back on track."
Why is a violent criminal any better than a kiddy diddler? I personally would much rather be groped than have my skull bashed in over $30. We should treat violent criminals as badly as we treat sex offenders.

I guarantee you that if this psychopath did not have access to a gun, that jogger would still be alive today. Way too easy to kill people with a gun.
I agree that people kill people. But it's much easier to kill someone when you have a gun.
Way too many guns in this country. Columbine, Virginia Tech. Jogger outside a gas station. What's it going to take for you to say enough is enough?
Guns make it a heckuva lot easier to kill people. All those shootings at parties ...without guns, they'd be a punch or two, that's it.

Yeah because it is so hard for a mentally unstable person with a knife to kill someone, so they wont do it. Look the fact is the GUNS ARE HERE, and if you outlaw guns, it wont stop 90% of gun crime. Because most gun crime is committed by people who did not purchase their guns legally. PEOPLE WHO LEGALLY OWN GUNS ARE NOT IRRESPONSIBLE WITH GUNS...for the most part...occasionally some moron goes nuts and decides to cap off his family then himself, but he probably would have done it with a knife, or a chainsaw, or just by burning the house down with everyone in it....
I moved overseas for work to a country with very tight gun laws and virtually no guns in the public sphere. After my first contract finished I chose to stay, largely because it is the first time in my life I have really felt free in my day-to-day life. Americans have NO idea what kind of basic freedom they are giving up by choosing to allow guns to be readily available. You can't understand what freedom really is until you live somewhere where the possibility of being randomly gunned down is not a part of your everyday reality.
The states that have the severest restrictions of gun purchases have the highest rate of gun related homicides. You could ban all gun sales, but the criminal fraternity would still have no problem whatsoever getting hold of guns. Remember what happened during Prohibition?
Cars kill people too. Do you drive one?
what!?! wait a minute. i thought we outlawed dangerous driving. damn!
