the best shoe is the one that works best for you. that being said, just because you enjoyed the victory track versions doesnt mean youll like the xc's.
the xc's have the same fit to them as both the matumbos and victory track versions do, and the midsole foam is denser and a bit thicker to accomodate for the rougher terrain. the only thing that really makes them anything similiar to the victory track version is the fit, as even the flywire utilizes a different cabling system.
they are closer to the matumbos as they both have the same midsole design but use some different materials (more rubber and thicker material in the xc's). both have the same arch design in the middle as well, and some people arent a fan of the arch.
my thoughts on the victory xc's? a bit of an overrated shoe for the price they put them up on but you can find them cheaper on ebay. if you think you'll like em, go for it as they are in fact a good shoe and i think the lighest cross shoe on the market currently (5.4 oz in z size 9 i believe). durable for its weight and offers good protection but i'd rather use it on select courses than every single cross race (more of an average terrain cross shoe, its best use is as a track workout shoe.)
instead of the victories if you dont end up getting them, I'd reccomend streak xc's or the forevers. streaks are great in that they drains well and work on most courses, unless its a true cross course the lack of aggression can really make it hard sometimes. the forevers are just an overall fantastic shoe, has more of a track shoe feel to it without sacrificing durablilty. great on golf courses and most rougher terrain courses.
those are the only two off the top of my head but look around the market, you kmight find something else you would prefer instead. look in other brands as well
