You can teach a dog to roll over, but you can't teach it to read a book. Related to brain size, etc.
I'm 6'3" and about 165 +/- and I feel like that's about right for me.
The coach has problems. Telling you that you need to lose weight and that you don't deserve to run the time that you ran--both of these statements point to his problems, not yours. He is venting his anger inappropriately with you. Regard this person with compassion, but do not give your power away to them.
Train and race hard & smart, do the best you can and don't worry about coach, who is trippin'.
No such thing as to big
I have never had a coach tell me I didn't "deserve" to run the time I ran. WTF is that????
You're too tall. Nothing you can do about that.
In college I raced at 6'4" 175lbs at 7% BF. It is early in the season so you will improve and probably drop another 5lbs by the end.
I am 6'4", usually race at 170-172 and I have run 1:51, 3:48, 8:59(Steeple) and 14:25(first 5k).
I always think about being lighter as well, but as long as you are training properly and not carrying excess weight, aka eating crap and drinking...etc. Your body is your body. you can always run a little more at a little easier of a pace and burn some fat off if that is an issue, and get the benefits of more miles (always a good thing).
Look at Paul McMullen, a MONSTER, and still like 3:36 or something
if you're training hard and not gorging yourself, i wouldn't worry about it...trying to cut weight while training hard that isn't weight merely dropping as you train can make you feel weak and sluggish
uh, yeah. 5000m homie. looks like he may be making a run at the trials standard, stanford perhaps?

Yea that was my opener...my goal for this season is to be somewhere around low 9:30's or even lower
yea, ran a 9:35 today... coach had a complete 180 from the last steeple I ran "couldn't be prouder" bipolar much?
He probly read this board with a hot face. Congrats.
just run muhfcker
Thanks man. Trying to drop 20 seconds by the end of the season. gotta go for IC's
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
