brumrunner - Nice win and very strong week! With that volume, I'd expect your legs would feel a little heavy, especially considering the pace difference between the 5k and marathon.
CTA - You've been absolutely nailing the mileage recently! No worries about the lack of a long run though, I think the overall mileage trumps that.
80-90 miles - Excellent long run this week! You absolutely should be confident about a sub-2:30, with the shape you're in, the only thing that would prevent you from that would be from some unforseen circumstance.
Sorry I didn't post last week, but I've mentioned I've been feeling a little lethargic recently and overall, the running just isn't going very well right now. I've also been battling a lingering achilles issue now for a little over a month and that kinda leads into the next few paragrahs.
Well, I had a 10k yesterday and I think my body is finally rebelling against me. First four miles went well @ 5:05, 5:03, 5:04, 5:04 (20:17 through 4 miles). However, just before mile 4, I took a sharp turn (this course has a lot of sharp turns) and rolled my ankle pretty bad. It felt okay at first, but not long after mile 4 the pain got to be unbearable, so I literally limped home to finish somewhere in the low 34's...after being on pace for a mid 31.
For those keeping count, that's two utterly horrible races in a row. If this isn't a sign to take some time off, I don't know what is. I've looked at my old logs, and the last time I took more than 3 days in a row off was back in 2008. This is long overdue. Unfortunately, it may take a week just to heal up the ankle/achilles.
I think I'll take at least 2 weeks of no running at all (more if everything isn't healed) and slowly start building after that. I've got nothing on the horizon for a while, so I suppose this comes at the best possible time. Not exactly how I wanted to finish my "season" but c'est la vie. My only goal this winter/spring was to break 1:09 in the half, and I did manage to pull that off.
I'll continue lurking here, and may post occasionally but I won't have anything relevant to post for a while. Good luck to all those with marathons coming up in a next month or so!
