I've been buying New Balance shoes for awhile and they're *pretty* good, but like most runners they seem to break down pretty easily. I don't know if it's because I'm too hard on my shoes (I trail run once or twice per week - I used to run on trails with non-trail shoes), but I have a difficult time finding a pair that will hold up.
I've been using the NB 101 for about 6 months and have put probably about 40 miles per week and around 1,000 miles total on 'em, and both inner-heel areas have ripped. I hate the trade-off with shoes like this that are light but paper thin so when you run through wet grass or God forbid a puddle, your feet are soaked. And this shoe (NB 101) is specifically designed as a trail runner, so you'd think they would do a better job of protecting your feet from the elements.
Normally, I'll run 4 or 5 days per week on street/track surfaces and 1 or 2 days per week on hiking trails. (5 or 6 days per week total.)
Has anyone found a good to great shoe for such a mix (street and trail)? Thank you for reading!
