What a cute and lovely troll. I think I will stop and pet his ugly and stupid a$$.
No one named Clell Bush has ever been Mayor of Miami Beach.
Ok, now go home.

This should have nothing to do with political leanings - the woman clearly gamed the system, but she gamed it completely legally. Neither Democrats nor Republicans would endorse this sort of arrangement. It's nobody's fault, it's just an unintended consequence of a poorly structured pension agreement.
It needs to be fixed. No one should agree with lax pension agreements that, unfortunately, plague thousands of municipalities around the country (in both red AND blue areas). It's fiscally irresponsible and we need to do our best to correct the mistakes lest we have serious trouble in the future.
Many of us would take advantage of the same arrangement, so don't villanize this woman. She played by the rules. The problem is that the rules were flawed. Let's change the rules to make them more fair for both the taxpayers and the pensioners.
A good post.
This 'incentive system' is almost exactly the way it works in New York state - at least in Ithaca - for cops. I remember talking to a 35 year old cop a few year ago and he told me he was about to retire and do exactly what this lady did.
Did I fault him? Not really. I'd like to think I wouldn't do the same thing but the morons who set this system up are too blame.
The whole concept of a never-ending pension that is funded at the time it's set up is bound to basically bankrupt any entitry whether it's a car company or state govt.

This is exactly it. She did NOTHING wrong. As others have said, don't hate the player, hate the game.

Incorrect. Do your homework before posting so you don't look as stupid as you have on this thread.
The city was also idiotic for letting her work 50 hours of overtime instead of hiring a second operator.
I'm under 30 and work for the state. I keep telling my co-workers "don't expect a pension when you retire". Everything is going to shift to a 401k/403b within the decade. States/cities/companies can't afford to bet on how long we're going to live once we retire in 30-40 years.
I guess one could say the same thing about Social Security. I'm not counting on that to be there for me when I retire either. It's a 'money in - money out' system.
On a completely unrelated note, put EVERYONE in the US on food stamps, but limit the type of food it can buy to fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy, baking supplies and whole grain bread.

Damn, rojo, you just say some stupid shit sometimes (i.e. usually). Forget the fact that there's no such word as "entitry". How about your complete lack of knowledge regarding basic economics. How many state governments can you name that have gone bankrupt because of their PDB plans? That's what I thought. Car companies? Same. Get a clue.

Oh my God please don't ever even type that again! That makes me shiver just thinking about it.

Haha nice hijack.
Before Dermer in 2002 the previous mayors Niesen Kasdin, Deymour Gelbour and Alex Daude....dating back to 1985. So do the math genius, if she was a 25 year employee.
What is your research??
I have none. I am a douchebag.

Then change the rules. This has nothing to do with "shitlibs", as you so eloquently put it.
Nice idea, but the Unions have lobbied to have the laws changed to that it is not possible to change the rules. Unless you do what Scott Walker and a few other have tried.
Wrong. I'm the real douchebag with no research.
I'm just a troll, just a lonely old troll.....
