I agree with you guys.

Indoor seems so worthless.

It is fun to watch but the way coaches emphasize it I think it takes away from the outdoor season.

It seems like indoor was created by the places in the US that get cold and can't run on frozen tracks. Why don't they just turn the indoor season to the lets go to california and florida and race season.

I am especially impressed that such a snowed out place like wisconsin is man enough to pass on the indoor season.

I think indoors is more important than outdoors. mile, DMR and 3K are the 3 best distances every created. 5 and 10K are ungodly long and boring. If you hate indoors it only because you arent very good at running, name a guy that was good that didnt rock indoors.

I know this crap is coming from all you 'blue collar' runners, but even your home boy, Chris Solinsky won an indoor title....

hmm.... Matthew Centrowitz heard he didn't win indoors but won NCAA outdoors, USA outdoors and 3rd at worlds.

If you look at the Badger's indoor schedule, it is pretty obvious they were not too concerned about it. Their first race was a very uncompetitive one at Nebraska. Then their first big race was at Arkansas in mid February just two weeks before Big Tens, and Krause skipped it to run USA XC nationals instead. They started racing a whole month after teams like Penn State and Indiana had been lighting it up. At Big Tens they definitely looked flat, and they deservedly got beat. However, I think the Big Ten 5k/10k outdoor results are going to look much different than the indoor 3k/5k results.

The fact is that most people (Take statistics and learn about the normal curve) most people within 2 standard deviations from the mean will not handle a rigorous indoor season and a rigorous outdoor season. Most people not all of them.. (we acknowledge Rupp here just as we will acknowledge lawi.) most people are emphasizing indoor way too much.

America needs to re learn how to peak. (Classic example stanfords x country team over the last 3-4 years.)

Again lets look at some of the best most dominant talents and use them as an example of why indoor should be emphasized. Unfortunately you ignore the hundreds of people who burn out each year from indoor.

Indoor is really fun to watch but I also agree too many athletes hit it hard. You cant carry a peak from early march to June.

That doesn't mean that some incredible athletes won't run good times in indoor. The point is when a coaches is putting together a training program he needs to make a choice. Do I want my athletes to peak in February March or June.

Some people can run amazing times without a lot of speed training.

Teg, Rupp, Lawi, Fernandez ran awesome in indoor on like nothing, the list goes on.

Batty has a lot of talent and can run some sweet times on not a lot of training but it looks like he might be overdoing it again this year.

I don't know who "break it up ran for", but I'm going to guess somewhere in the west.

Indoors is the worst thing for development with college distance runners. XC and Outdoor Champs are enough six months apart.

dude the bottom line is you sally's need to stop crying about racing more... oh i had to race 4 times in XC oh no, ill never be able to peak right... what my coach is making me run an invite this weekend. cry cry cry, this is not what Schumaker would do, cry cry cry... it hurts to run more than 6 time in a year...

Anyone who isn't a total head case can run all three seasons, and get fast as the seasons progress.

Completely agree with ya joe mama - ran for a very comptitive D2 program late 70's 80's - we raced almost every weekend in the fall (team run / workout races most weekends) 2 or 3 key meets then had a blast indoors and still ran fast outdoors. (4:08 inside - 3:47 outside) Just plenty of mileage - hills and a track workout once every 7 to days indoors and every 5 days or so outdoors - not that complicated. I kind of get the train train train mentality but it was a bunch more fun lacin em up and racin with teammates. Not sure how these guys can enjoy 3 or 4 races each fall etc. Planned redshirting makes plenty of sense but it bites ya in the butt if you need that season later due to injury. This is always an interesting topic to hear opinions on.

This is why I want to run at Wisconsin. They care about Cross and Outdoors. 2 peaks a year is enough.

Great weekend for Wisconsin, but IU is just laying in wait after not participating at Payton Jordan. Wisconsin should roll in the 800 with Mudd and Mellon, but Bayer will win 1500 easily and IU will dominate steeplechase (4 in top 6). Wisconsin should be good in 10k, and then 5k will decide the distance guys.

They are definitely ready to defend the home track. Any word on Darling, Shields, or Brice? I'm going to assume they're fighting an injury or still ramping up.

Also, anyone know of any 2012 recruits? I know of Schrobilgen and Sandvold, who are both pretty solid, but that's all I could find.
