Mention has been made of Webb's apparent great strength in the closing stages of the Ostrava race and his comparative explosiveness in relation to Lagat, Sied-Sief, Korir, etc.
Chris Lear's book mentions Webb's coach, Raczko, and his mentor JAmes Cook, who coached Abdi Bile. A good deal was said of Bile's extensive use of plyometrics and their use in his 1987 WC 1500m win, when he run 1:46 for the last 800.
Apart from this long winded introduction, and for the purposes of other milers/middle distance runners on this forum who wish to improve their srength, can anyone provide either links, courses, books, or any other information on the Webb/Bile plyometric program or on another plyometrics program middle distance runners can make use of?
I have to imagine closing speed like Webb's, and the Ethiopians, who are also said to make extensive use of plyometrics, does not come simply from basic drills like skipping or bounding.
