Hi
So I ran in nike vomeros but then developed plantar fasciitis. It wouldn't go away for a few weeks, despite stretching like mad and taking that time off.
One day I went for a run and my feet were killing me so i turned around. Then I thought, I'm just going to run for a minute barefoot to strengthen my feet (because I've been reading online that that is the solution, the strengthening). Ran around barefoot and zero pain. Five minutes after the PF arch pain in the vomeros.
The next day I went for a run in some saucony mirages (i am a neutral runner, accidentally bought the wrong shoes, but whateves) and there was no pain. So I've been running in those.
My question is, I'm not totally sold on minimalism...the lowered heel-to-toe drop makes sense to me, but the less cushioning...maybe not. I want to increase my mileage a lot in the next few months/years and I want to know if I should alternate between shoes, like kinvaras for some runs, shoes with more cushion for other/longer runs? Does anyone do this?
Also I have a midfoot strike (not because i try to, but because I have poor calf flexibility despite stretching all the time) and I'm wondering what shoes with cushioning allow for this. Any midfoot strikers in the brooks launch? What about the Brooks Ghost? Or new Nike Zoom Elite?
Thanks!
