I'm a sophomore. My PRs are 52.5 and 2:10. I want to get close to 2:00-2:05 in outdoor. This is just one race that we run during January before track starts in March, no real indoor season. So far I've done one workout; 7x200s with 50 meter walking rest, these ranged between 37-31, I ran these with two other athletes and we stayed on the same pace then cut down. All other running has just been mileage. I'm about 5'10 and 140 pounds, I've always been a good kicker and able to relax at high speeds. I've split 61 in an outdoor 800 and it didn't feel bad, but I'm not really in racing shape. I also have no idea what indoor is like as this is my first race there. There really is nothing riding on this meet, if I choke I'll only get a few apologies and then move on. Should I go out in sub 60 and risk dying or split 61-63 and try to come back. I know indoor has more turns so I would want to get in good position early. Whats the best plan for success?
