I will be coaching a couple baseball and softball players this spring for my relays and the open 4/8 because we are weak in those events. The problem, besides them playing other sports, is that I only get them at PE and they practice baseball/softball on the weekends too so the only time I have them is 75 minutes mon-fri (unless they have a game on that day, fml). Realistically I'm looking at 3-4 days of serious training and a meet each week (I'm trying to triple and quadruple them to get some training in during the meets). Has anyone had this issue or is going through this issue? What did you do? I'm thinking of breaking it down like this:
Mon- Mainly 2s, 3,s and 4s hard. Trying to get between 1200-2000m of work. 4-8 minutes recover.
Tue- Fly 30s with handoffs
Wed- Ez distance with strides
Thur- Pre-meet (basically practice long jump and do strides)
Fri- Meet doing some series of LJ, 4x2, 400, 800, 4x4, 4x8.
Thoughts?
