Does it matter how long my base training phase is? I'm not running track this year because of mono so I haven't run in 2 months. I have from now until cc season to train, which is like 9 months. Is a base training phase of 20-30 weeks too long? Is it even possible to have too big of a base phase? I know it's longer than most base training phases but I have no meaningful races for months so I assume it would be beneficial to build as big of a base as possible for a 5k. I'm planning on starting really small mileage (10 mpw) and building up over 8 months to 50 miles or so. Is this okay or should I do something else?
