What great state of Texas?
General John "Black Jack" Pershing after spending the better part of 1916 chasing Panco Villa through Texas and Mexico was quoted as saying, "If I owned Hell and Texas I would live in Hell and rent out Texas."

That quote is great. If you've ever seen the movie Giant, that pretty much sums up most of Texas. But still we Texans love our state for some reason. Anyway, mesquito, there are lots of posters on here from Texas. Hang around awhile and you'll figure it out.
Yep.
Texas is great? if so, since when?
Well Austin is great ever since Bush left...we just need to vote dumbass Perry out of there...
Hell--your state nurtures the Bush family and that influence has damn near ruined this country for the next 20 years.
I would say it was terrorism that ruined the country. Would you care to enlighten us on how you would combat that threat here in our own country? I can't even imagine what would have happened since 9-11 if nothing at all was done. Just remember that Texas is the only state that can break away from the union if desired. I think Bush got voted in by more than just Texans. So there's a lot more nurturing from others as well. Who did you vote for?
gidi yep
We here in Texas we dont need some yahoo to mess with our great state

Giant does not sum up our state anymore than Dazed and Confused or The Last Picture Show. I live on the edge of the Hill Country which is a far cry from the emptiness of West Texas.[quote]fwrunco wrote:
Well, we could always get rid of one or two people. We can start with Nyariki and work from there.
texas texas...
from the majesty of Amarillo's empty minimalls, to the boundless beauty of Houston's smog aided sunsets; the pretention and overpriced haven of Austin, the short trip to eerily racist Waco and on up to the crime and drugs haven of Dallas...from the slums of tourist trap San Antonio, to the bannished nuts out in Lubbock: God bless the Red River.
Hey man! The best drugs are in Dallas! And look at all the great 400 meter men running in Waco! You mean there's no smog execept in Houston? Crime is everywhere! Obviously there's more of it when we have more people. I'd agree with the nuts in Lubbock comment though. Texas is still the best state though!

Austin barely, BARELY gets a pass because its fun and yes, there are loads of hot women.
Yes, lots of places have smog, but Houston is the smog capital of the US...and I didnt even mention the fact that it has the leading population of roaches:humans in the world.
Waco, good atheletes, glad for their tennis team...TCU, same...but Waco is the creepiest, "get the hell out of this town PRONTO" town I've ever been in, and I've been in Harrison Arkansas at 11:00 at night...
Dallas...where do i begin...where do i end...where does it end and begin? The fact you cant logically walk from any point in dallas to another point in dallas, be it even a half mile, is enough to make you go nuts but add in it that when you are forced to drive, it takes nearly 30 minutes to do anything and EVERY GOD DAMNED highway is under construction is enough to order the bomb be dropped on the place (cept the AAA-go mavs). Even the taxi at DFW is the longest in the country. OH.OOOOOOH...Fort Worth...i'm going to stop...so much state to hate...i could be here for days...
You dimwits need to stop poor-mouthing Amarillo. OK, it's a bit dry and dusty. Granted, when I ran yesterday it was 89 with a 30-35 mph wind. This morning, pre-dawn, it was 75 with a 20-25 mph wind. Our local marathon was won in right at 3:00, and we had a 20 mph wind. But we have very clean air, Palo Duro Canyon, a decent climate except for the constant wind, low humidity, relatively unclogged streets, a good business climate, decent schools, and nice people. There is not much in the way of haute culture, but we have a good selection of little local bands of mixed quality. 3600 feet of altitude. Really, not a good place for a young serious runner, but not bad for a middle-aged man with two kids.
Then why are you still in Texas? HMMMMM...
uh, dood, i'm in Atlanta. Born and raised in Tulsa, GREATER STATE Oklahoma
