I think its time I start some track work
Sat. Off (1st day off in a week, pretty good for me)
Sun. 9, miles for the week: 39
Sat. 6 with some strides and plyometrics on grass
Sun. 10 easy (unseasonably hot and humid here in northern NJ)
I've cut way back on my mileage, trying to restore some
zip to my dead legs. My butt and hips feel very tight,
which makes my stride short and choppy.
Hot off the press: Did 12 today instead of my planned 9. Those tornados that blew through here last night brought some cooler, dryer air. My longest run in > a year.
Runguru:
Congrats, I bet that felt great.

Friday: Got to track early. Two mile warm-up. On last lap (85 sec), three kids steal my bag, get my keys, steal my Jeep, crash into two other cars and then a building (total driving distance for the kids = 50 feet; Jeep now in the shop).
Friday: Approx 1 mile fartlek looking up and down alleys and between buildings for kids. See one, cops arrest them. Lots of witnesses.
Friday: Two mile cool-down looking for stolen stuff: sock on a bush, underwear in the middle of an alley, near a mud puddle(that was funny), jeans found 3 blocks away--never found racing flats or spikes.
Total Miles = 5. Lesson--don't take the workout to seriously and don't forget you are never to old to get stupid.
GoSub4, where in gods name did this happen.?
Friday- 16 mile bike ride(1 hour) easy
Saturday-
am-- Raced 12K in rain for total of 10 miles with warm-up...no cool-down due to pouring rain.
pm--Did 1 hour on the elliptical trainer in the afternoon while watching Home Depot track meet, and lifted light weights.
Sunday- Ran 11 miles at 7:15 pace. Weather was cool, overcast.
sub 4, that is awful, almost beyond fiction! you should get the local paper to do a story on that nightmare. Where do you live?
Anyway, feeling fresh with mileage down to 70-80. Raced a 5k against the same young guy as two weeks ago, but this time we threw in surges, encouraging one another in the humidity and on the hills. He got away, but I was pleased with a 16:25 and a pic in the paper to boot !
16 miler today, last 8 at low 6min pace.
Any masters on here from Boston, Rhode Island area? We are going to race up there in late June thru mid-July.
Chicago, Hyde Park, U of C track.
saturday: 1st place overall in the biggest "cherry pick" of my life, the Black Bart Festival 3K in Cloverdale, CA...won by over a minute and absolutely refuse to divulge my time...gotta admit that it was fun to have a run behind the lead vehicle and 2 lead bikes while it lasted...its been a VERY long time since I had that experience and it simultaneously amused/embarassed my wife who was out on the course clapping
sunday: extreme hilly 1:00 trail run at Lake Sonoma in prep for the upcoming Dipsea (3 weeks away)

First of all Fuck you too. Second of all the reason I get pissed everytime I see these stupid masters threads. Is I really do think you guys are insecure. Racing and running times is supose to be for guys who come out of college. Give it 5 to 8 year window. Run their times and move on with life. I think masters running is nothing but a bunch of guys who can't grow up and constantly need to pat them self on the back. Stay in shape and move on with your life. Save it for us in our Youth.
Do me a favor here. Don't comment back or I will torment the hell out of you all.
Buddy , who the heck cares about your stupid road race win. I would not be to proud of it. Unless your another insecure bastard. Ain't hard to find a cherry pick race these days oldman. Go look at all the slow times every weekend on coolrunning. It makes me laugh. A jogger could find a race to win. I saw a 10k won this weekend in 39 minutes. What were they doing walking. God sakes I never thought I would see the day when you could win a road race in a time my grandmother could jog.
I bet the only thing your going to run sub 4 for is an 800m at best. Give us all a break another slow old bastard.
ah ignorance. If you angry youth want to lead a life like the pot-bellied walkers I see around the park when you get older, I wish you all the best. But I love competing and running will never, ever get old. It has everything to do with feeling good and running amazing times no matter what the age-group. I hope you youngsters get a hold of your anger. Why you have so much anger is beyond me.
enjoy life and life longer.
Are you George Bush III?
F - 14 - Actually ran 12 X 400 w/200j because I am racing next weekend. Also got in a 5 mile ez PM run
S - 17 - 11 ez (66:00) plus 6 ez PM run
Su - 14 in the rain
