DNF - then writes a book on running by feel
Warmer weather might not help the cause and an DNF wouldn't surprise me
How warm is it supposed to get? I need to know in order to give an answer...
I went for a run along the Chicago lakefront this noon, and it was so warm that I had to continually wipe sweat out of my eyes. Supposed to be 55 at race time tomorrow, rising to 63 by 9 a.m.
According to forecast.weather.gov, the temp will be about 66 at the start and about 70 at the end (for elites).
Thanks.
I will say 2:08:43
Spouse thinks 2:10:59
2:05:47 if he is smart enough to draft behind the pacers as much as possible versus front run.
I train with Ryan so most of you wouldnt have a clue as to what his plan is....He only spent 1 week tapering for boston because he had to get as much milage as he could before his injury so he is alot fresher for Chicago as he has spent the last 3 weeks tapering down properly...I predict a 2.04.20.....
Assuming a full effort, I disagree with racing 3 months from the trials- esp. if he did a 3 week taper during valuable base time. NO ONE can deny there's a risk involved, esp. given he's never had only 3 months between 26.2's...?? He's self-coached, so he's not getting experienced direction. Just knowing himself isn't enough, otherwise every athlete would save cash & inconvenience and be self-coached. Plus, it's not like anyone can say that bouncing back from an elite marathon in short time is a given. It's a risk. And no- posting this is not a way to not leave Hall alone.
I think he'll keep the pace honest early on, plus Mosop has pacemakers. He seems to be in better shape than he was for Boston. I think he'll go sub 2:06.
My prediction: 2:05:38

I don't believe you train with Ryan. The idea he could coach himself at his young age and without a training group is delusional.
2:08.30

OOOOK
You guys can't even rip on the OP for being a hater because he was pretty damn right with his prediction.

His 2:04:57 at Boston is equal to about a 2:08 at Chicago, so that's where I think he's at.
Eat crow muthaF#$@#$rs!!!!!!
Apparently God goes by the name "Runnin quick" when he posts on Let's Run. Nice estimate, but, honestly, as his coach, that shouldn't be hard to do.

Yeh, and when Mo Farah said Rupp was in shape to run sub-27 with him, everyone thought it was laughable..... until Rupp ran 26:48. You can be in shape to run far better and the race just not turn out well.
So so-called "smartest letsrunner", did people bash on you too much when you were a runner so you feel the need to bash on everyone else? You can stop by the Junior High counseling office between 4th and 5th period and get some help.

The OP nailed it. Ryan, is that you?!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
