Wisconsin's 6th guy finished 42nd. That may be the story of the meet for them. The running as pack and finishing well with the top 5 was sort of expected. The 6th finishing 42nd in a meet of this quality wasn't, at least by me.

The 5 Wisconsin guys crossed the line looking very fresh and smiling like it was a workout tempo run. I'd have to guess 2-3 of them could have dropped the hammer to finish even higher...very impressive.
I'd have to agree I think Wisconsin was definitely purposefully staying together. They had no need to chase after the guys in front when they were already locked into the win. By the way, Zimmer is a perfect cross country course. Very well built.
It was very windy headwind at times, and part of the time pushing the runners. Lalang did a ton of work on his own and destroyed the field pulled away around 5k and took it home from there...very impressive. I wouldn't call the course soft or hard...it rained for a few days so the ground was softer than usual but still great for running.

wow that really sucks
Here is some amateur video of the races. You can at least get something about the ebb and flow up front.

Here's some food for thought for the LV discussion:
Is he just wearing dumb looking socks, or are his ankles/achilles' wrapped?
Thanks for the videos. Yeah, I guess it *was* pretty windy--that camera work was making me queasy at a couple of spots.

I was at the finish line and what is burned into my mind is how the 5 Wisco guys finished vrey relaxed versus Mead (I believe) down on his hands and knees as well as a Stanford guy laying flat out sprawled on the ground. This was an incredible stark contrast in effort exerted.
Just curious - how did Lalang look at the finish?

Like he didn't care about where his teammates ended up.
That fine Arizona squad rallied to finish 36 of 39.

Looked like he was 30 years old.

So.....in your mind, it's better to appear to be fresh at the finish line than give it 100% and finish higher? What was this a time trial for the Badgers? In my recollection, Hassan has basically owned the Badgers in every race he's been in (when healthy) and he will continue to get better and WIN the Big Tens. The Badgers are indeed a great team, but I doubt if any of them will beat Mead.

Thanks for those insightful observations.
I'm sure Lalang would be happy to take on a 30 year old of your choice from good ole USA if you're insinuating that age had something to do with his win. Come on, he wasn't racing jr high boys here.
Did he look tired or exhausted or smiling or expressionless?
Did the Providence women have a hell of an off day, or do they just suck this year?
Laland looked great, lit up a smoke.
Well, if you are focused upon the team competition and winning as a TEAM... Then, yes, it sounds like WI accomplished what their coach asked them to do today: Win the meet.

They sat their 1 and 2 and still put 2 in the top 20. They will be fine.
Inability to understand the objectives and want to impose your own version of what people should do.
In a football game with the score 40-0 should the team be trying to make it 80-0 or is it going to be a victory either way and so you might play the second team to give them playing time. For your position to make sense, it seems like you have to try to maximize the score in every situation to the exclusion of any other objective whether you are ahead 80-0, behind 0-80 or whatever.
And no AD would hire you to coach their team, EVER. Utter lack of understanding of what it is all about.

A football analogy to a Gopher fan? That's really cruel.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
