I think the race is on Friday, 10/14. Not 10/15.

Iowa State will surprise and pick up key points. Very strong Kenyan at number 1, Loy at number 2 and Coolidge at 3. Very good 1-3.

I don't think they will be top 5 but I would bet they are 12-15 picking up important points to qualify for ncaa.

Stanford always looks AMAZING this time of year, as does indy but this year they may have figured it out

The first race is at 1pm on Friday, then 1:40, then there are two 'B' races for the other runners. Meet done by 3:40, except for awards, although they may do that during the B races.

They should have the timing mats, including at the finish. But with that many good teams in each race, it will be a very crowded finishing areas with 7 x 40 for the men and 7 x 42 for the women. And with only 6kms to separate out the women it will be crowded with almost 300 coming across the line, many within a 2-minute interval at the peak.

As for the race itself, it is a bit hard to figure out the race because of variations in how hard the teams will run. For those working for points, this may be more important than their league race and so might be a real peak effort. Others more secure in qualifying (e.g., Wisconsin, Indiana, but also those that might have an easier regional) will probably train through a little more.

Note that Wisconsin has never won this meet -- only third year, but... -- however, it is a couple weekends later this year and with Mick hitting the running with Pride theme, they will be working hard. It will be interesting to see if they are running all of the top five (would guess yes if they are all healthy but probably will not run someone if they have the wrong kind of injury issue). I would guess that Brice will go and then it is a bit of a toss up.

If Oregon runs everyone (the two Ls included) they can be pretty tough.

It has been fairly dry and the course will likely run hard and fast (although they do irrigate parts of the course, as needed) and since this is the last meet of the year for the course, they have prepped it for this race, as they are probably seeing it as a trial for the Regionals next year.

The course has a number of back and forth 'squiggles' that generally allow you to cut across and see the runs 4-5 times. However, there will probably be so many in attendance and so many running that it will be hard to do it as easily as in the past. The berms will also be packed. Current forecast is for sunny and a high of 62 with dew point in the lower forties -- way fast conditions so it should be a great set of races.

Look for Luke and Lukas to go 1-2 for Oregon :)i hope to see Mac Fleet run as well.

Stanford has a recent history of looking better in-season than at the big dance.

Let's hope Stanford learned a couple of things last year about peaking for the main event. You simply don't recover that quickly from a hard effort, and they don't give away hardware for making a statement in the prelims.

Well, a couple of years ago they went in as the favorite and finished barely in the top 10. Top two guys ran well, but then ....

After reviewing past pre nationals results (a comparable way to estimate potential scores), I'd change my prediction to 450 points being good enough for 15th. With the number of ranked teams going, I'd say 19-21 of these teams could very well be at nationals. There are a few teams here who may be good enough to get an auto-bid in a weak region, but end up on the back half of the team scores. That could hand out a couple points to a lot of teams. Big advantage being at this meet for bubble teams.

Is this race online anywhere next weekend thank you i really want to see Oregon place in the top 2 in both the mens and womens races now that thier top 3 men and women will all be running luke,Lukas,Fleet Hasay,Kesselring and i forgot the number 3 oregon women that didn't run at the Dillenger too baked to remember right now :)

You are crazy if you think only 15 teams from this field will make it. It i smore like 20-23 teams will make it. The VAST majority of points will come from this race unlike pre nats which had 2 races. Tons of bubble teams at this meet!

Hasay will win the womens and either Luke or Lukas will win the men's

Sheila Reid and Jordan Hasay will open their seasons against each other...only race of the season other than conference, regionals, and nats, so you know it'll be good.

pac12fan...why on earth do you think Mac Fleet a guy who never even qualified for Footlocker at 5k distance is Oregon's 3rd guy at 8k/10k. He is a fabulous runner at 1500 on the track and maybe...maybe...5k someday...but you can't actually believe he is a good number three for Oregon.

I do not know about 500, but it is going to be pretty high. A team running 20th in this meet probably is going to hit 500 because at 7 runners for the top several teams, most of the teams will start with runners in the 20s or 30s if they have someone fast, or 40-60 otherwise. Adding one runner from each of 20 teams for each scorer, then you get 50 +70 +90 +110 +130 = 450.
