I am a collegiate female distance runner and am trying to lose some weight. (I had a stress fracture and picked up some attractive but slowing weight.) I am 5'4" and right now weigh 129. I am trying to get down to around 115-120. I have heard that atkins is a way to drop weight very quickly. Is this true? And how quickly should I expect to lose? I know the sooner I get the weight off, the sooner I can get back to higher intsensity training.
Right now I am just doing a lot of LSD of atleast an hour around 8 min pace and also some weight lifting. If I lose the weight with atkins, will it come back if I return to a regular healthy diet? Or should I continue atkins until I no longer have energy to run?
Any advice is appreciated.
