I haven't. I can't see the appeal. Very hypocritical on my part, in ways, as I eat a ton of meat. I just can't see the appeal of killing the beasts myself.
There are some absolutely horrid videos on YouTube of "spear hunting", check them out

Yes, I've hunted. Whitetail deer, turkeys, rabbits, doves. Bringing down a monster buck is every bit as thrilling as running a PR or winning a regional race.
I'm always hunting for poontang.
No. Also, I have never played monopoly or registerd to vote.

Am I a hypocrite for utilizing air travel but never piloting the plane?
I have gone house hunting and Easter Egg hunting.
Yes - shot a rabbit once. Good eating!
Does fishing count?
yes, deer, rabbits, doves,quail,and bears
I cannot remember a time when I haven't been hunting for foraging for something. I am going deer hunting with my bow in a few minutes and just came in with a nice mess of fresh puffballs. Only meat we eat is wild game and fresh, all natural chicken and beef. Well, except the occasional trip to REd lobster! Ha!
Hunting, trapping and fishing are important for too many reasons to list. But, without our outdoor sportsmen, there would be no outdoors left to enjoy and for wildlife to live.
Deer tenderloins, puffballs, and fresh green beans for supper!

I'm 41 and have been hunting since I was 10. We start dove hunting around September, then switch to grouse, pheasant, quail, ducks, and geese at various points during the fall and winter. Springtime means Spring Gobbler season.
I personally never got a thrill from killing deer. Just not my thing. Birds have a brain about the size of a pistachio, so I don't carry around the same guilt that I get from killing a deer.
As I think about it, I've killed over a thousand birds. Most of them we eat, some we can't find, others the dogs eat, some are too far blasted full of holes.
Nebraskan. I am a Nebraskan as well I have been hunting since I was real young too. We hunt doves, pheasants, ducks, geese, and turkey. Having a good hunt and shooting the limit is a very good feeling.
Interesting question. I'm an NRA life patron member. I shot a bird with a bb gun as a kid and did not like it at all. Same thing happened with my buddy who shot a robin and proceeded to freak out. I haven't hunted since. Like the OP I'm a meat eater and I guess a hypocrite. I'm sure that if I had to hunt to survive I would. It's a dog-eat-dog world.
BTW, in response to the previous poster birds can be very intelligent. I have chestnut-backed chickadees & wrens that I toss peanut kernels to. They're smaller than my thumb. A year can go by and they still remember me.
Why do you have to enjoy killing animals to not be a hypocrite?
Some people seem to take a perverse joy in killing large beasts. This I cannot understand. Trophy hunting? WTF is that?
Hunting as a managed cull is fine. Let the loons who want to kill animals go for it. One way or another they will die - I'd rather they be shot than starve to death.
Many in North America live in close proximity to wild animals. The idea that going out and shooting them for our own pleasure is ok is antiquated and backward.
You analogy is too juvenile to even comment on.
Chris Solinsky is a fanatic bowhunter.
I spearfish, but do not hunt out of water.
I am not against it, per se, I just don't do it.
Trophy hunting seems kind of dickish to me. Not sure I agree with that so much...
I've hunted for Elk, deer, and bird hunted since I was a kid. I don't get any kind of thrill from it. I love the taste of Elk and Deer. It's very lean and has a really good flavor unlike beef or chicken.
I wouldn't kill anything I don't eat. I've hunted goose and can honestly say that geese taste too bad to shoot. Duck, pheasant, and dove are good eating but a pain in the ass to clean. Wild turkey is the best tasting bird by far. But turkey season is really short here in Colorado.
Last weekend:
Bagged and tagged a tasty cougar with some Grey Goose and Wild Turkey on the side.
