So, Forum Member whaaat? posted http://www.televisionjamaica.com/Programmes/EyeOnSports.aspx/Videos/12473 on page 3, then asked again on page 4 why no comment. Well, let me. I watched the video twice in its entirety. An interesting video it is. Not to deter from the original post (topic), but it was clearly an unexpected reaction from Dix after losing to Blake. Only Dix can explain his action. Not that he has to, but his reaction left a negative outlook from many fans/supporters of the sport. Now, apart from the Jamaicans & other Caribbean Islands' members on this forum, how many of us are truly familiar with the annual Boys & Girls Champs carnival that takes place in Jamaica? How many of us has ever gone down to the Island to watch a day's event, or the full 3 days? How many of us has even bothered to watch it online, or buy any of the few DVD's that surfaces after the games? How many of us know the deep and rich history of the Boys & Girls Champs in Jamaica? Perhaps a few. The video briefly mentions the tradition. Ask any other person in this vast world if their country has anything close to, or on the same level of what happens in Jamaica. Oh yea, ask Puma (the manufacturer) they know the secret. We,(the USA) tends to bash the recent success of their (the Jamaican) athletes, but that success is finally paying off. T & F is now fully developed on that Island. The kids now access to the right training gear and exposure. They do not just run in Pro Keds sneakers anymore on a make shift dirt track. Second, how many of us do make the yearly trip to the Penn Relays, or how manu of us has ever gone over the many years to see how far school kids in Jamaica has come. I firmly believe that if Jamaica ever decide not to participate in the Penn Relays, the event would suffer, if not be a complete flop. Period. Doping still happens and will continue as the video mentions but the respectives agencies are working hard to control. Do you know how long the IAAF has been working on trying to find a way to collect blood samples? Oh no, it was not just since WC in Daegu. I am happy the retention of samples will be 8 yrs. Unfortunately, we will be devastated, or jubilant when some of our favorite athlestes true colors are discovered. Watch the video and get some understanding of what happens in Jamaica. Quit with some of the biased and unfounded remarks that Jamaicans don't get tested like our USA athlethes. Get to know some of the history with T & F in the Carribean, no just Jamaica. Notice how K. James from Grenada acts after his races on the world stage. He goes around acknowledging his peers. Nice touch from a 19 yr old.
