Actually, if anything, I'm a Rupp fanboy. Ducks all the way.

Exactly. I like Solinsky. But Solinsky fans are the T&F version of Raider fans. Very annoying. LetsRun has glorified Solinsky to no end. In that context the picture is not that big of deal. And it promotes Solinsky. Reminds me of years back when the Detroit Pistons were better than the Chicago Bulls in the early Michael Jordan days. SI had this cover:http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/cover/featured/9197/index.htmIt was brilliant. It still promoted Jordan while also promoting the better team in the Detroit Pistons.

I agree with this.

Runners and the people who actually care enough about the sport to attend meets are not drunken fools.
Think again.
The middle-aged fools I know who spend endless hours sitting on their asses at track meets, where they have zero connection to anyone competing, are indeed drunkards.
I presume they are there because the alternative, time at home, is too unbearable to face. I presume this is how they all got so fat.
Ironically, or perhaps sardonically, they are the same drunkards who introduced me to the cesspool that is Letsrun.
I'm casting my vote to keep track and field clean, classy and respectful. Anyone who has the guts to get out there and do what Solinsky and Rupp do deserve better than what Solinsky got from Letsrun yesterday.
Maybe I'd feel differently if these guys were bringing home the obscene paychecks that NBA and NFL players do, but since they don't, let's give these young men some support and respect.
Robert, your points make no sense.
1. With regards to your first point, you think you get criticized no matter what you do, so you post a picture you know you'll get criticized for? How dumb. You would have proved your point if you posted A PICTURE OF RUPP and you were still criticized. Being criticized for not posting a picture of Rupp, and then once again not posting a picture of Rupp does nothing to prove your point.
2. With regards to your second point, I agree the sport needs rivalries. But it doesn't need manufactured ones. I think the performances stand on their own, and will do plenty to create a rivalry between Rupp and Solinsky. Furthermore, if you consider yourself a journalist, you should know that creating rivalries is not your job.
3. With regards to point 3, you were against using a file photo of the person who actually ran the race, but thought it would be a good idea to use a file photo of someone who didn't run the race?
Guys do you ever listen to talk radio where the host takes an inflammatory position to generate some heated phone calls?
If it was all "look how great all these runners are" all the time it would get really boring around here.
C'mon, lighten up!

What you've just described is what should (and does) take place on the message boards. It appears that the Brojos want to be journalists. If they do want to be journalists, they have done a piss poor job of it.

Yeah, it's cheap and it's trite and only appeals to dimwits.
Again, I challenge Rojo to apologize.
Rojo's quote tells us all we need to know. He and his brother envision Letsrun.com as a sort of running-oriented version of Drudge Report.

Congratulations on setting a new all time record for most clueless post in the history of LRC.

Wow. bguy's record didn't last for very long.

Drudge also posts a lot of hyperbolic sh*t for personal and political gain. In the end, he caters to the lowest common denominator. If that's what you want to do on Let's Run then fine. But, don't complain about other people trolling, being classless, etc. again.
P.S. Did you seriously just imply you aspire to make Lets Run the Drudge Report of running?
When I saw the pic of Sol with the red X through it, I thought absolutely nothing of it.
Then again, I am not easily offended.
I'm sure Solinsky won't lose sleep over it.
This board is full of a bunch of overly-sensitive babies.
Isn't there FREE fanboy snaps of Rupp's AR from Brussels ?

We didn't delete your post. None of the employees have been on the site all day. Perhaps a volunteer moderator did it.
Volunteer moderator? Why is this even a thing? Hasn't experience shown us all that it is a bad idea to allow a random assortment of people to delete posts and threads at will?
I had no internet access Friday until the end of the day Saturday.
I logged onto LetsRun.com and saw the picture and at first was like "WTF?"
I saw in tiny letter Rupp's new time. After about 3 seconds I realized what happened. There is no photo of Rupp, so showing the old record which got so much attention, is gone is a way of celebrating Rupp's run. I figured Rojo did it as he had to do all aspects of the site Friday and he doesn't know how to edit photos.
Perhaps we could have had the old record, crossed it out and put up the new time.
No offense was meant to Solinsky. If he takes offense to it, I'll apologize to him and explain what we were trying to do.
I do find it interesting how we get emails saying we are biased against Rupp AND Solinsky depending on who the person supports.
Good response Weldon, I realize that running a multi million dollar website that mistakes will happen.
This whole mess could have been avoided had Rojo posted the same pic, skipped the red X and run with the heading; "Ummmm, ever heard of Galen Rupp?"
Oh wait, on second thought scratch that comment the Jordan fans can be overly sensitive.
Hahaha, throw your bro under the bus!
I still don't think you have anything to apologize for.
By the way, cropping and editing photos is really, really easy. I could teach your brother this in 10 minutes using any out-of-the box software you have like MS Paint or even better, the Apple tools. If your bro is going to back you up while you're out, just teach him some basic skills for godsakes.
