I think this is up in the air.
Was never a collegiate runner or super fast, but in 2006 I ran 15:32 and was running a lot (for a working married guy) w/ speedwork, etc. I could consistently run under 62 for 400 (I don't know what this translates to for 5k but I'm sure someone will point out how crappy either number is).
Anyway, a very chubby dude at work always made fun of me for running and going to the gym. He weighed about 265 and was pretty lazy. When I first started working there I tried to get him to go to the gym but that lasted 2 weeks. We were friendly but he'd always bust my chops for being fit. He'd always talk junk about how he could beat me in a sprint. I thought there was no way due to his weight and sedentary lifestyle. One day he challenged me to a 200m race in the parking lot in front of the office. I was ecstatic that he finally challenged me so I could kick his ass. Short story long, he kicked the shit out of me. I mean by about 2 meters. He then immediately challenged me again when the starter said he jumped. I proceeded to get my ass handed to me again. Turns out the guy ran hurdles in college at a D2 school.
