2nd and 3rd at the trials are up in the air. A 2:14 guy could be going to the Olympics for us.

Now this video clip from the race says it all really.
So cool to see Max throwing the hurt on some Africans. That downhill part looks crazy. My knees were hurting just watching.
I saw some definite heel-striking on the downhill.
Winning a World Championship in anything running-related is awesome, I don't care if it's the 100m or mountain running. Congrats to Max and Kasie!!!
Thanks for the video, some of those climbs and descents look like a complte sufferfest.
hahahah, check out 6:03 in that video...one of the Uganda takes a spill on the downhill...
How does one qualify for the world mountain championship? Are there trials or is it just picked somehow?
Max King is a really nice guy...I had the chance to run with him on an easy day last spring. Very down to earth. Granted, it's easier to be down to earth when you make next to no money doing what you train so many hours for. But seriously, he was great and not at all snobbish about going for a run with slower folks.

Similar to any other U.S. national team. Top 6 finishers in the U.S. national championship go.
Not surprisingly, King and Enman were the U.S. champs this year.

People who say "I could run the course faster than that", are crackpots.
Thanks for the info, I am glad the U.S. sent such a strong team!
Wrong Tommy Manning (two guys, same age, both runners, not related). The one you referred to lives in CA. The one on the US team lives in Colorado and did not run for Georgetown.

The downhill looks the toughest. Otherwise, the course is in need of some hills.Respect for Max! Congrats!

I'm petty sure an American won this thing back in the 80's. Probably not unreasonable to assume that it's a lot tougher to win today then it was back then but, a win is a win. Great job Max!

You are correct. Jay Johnson in 87.
Gotta love Max King's "trail" shoes...
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
