I feel like this is the exact same scenerio...
state meet is over, your season is really over, you run another meet, and you suck in it
pretty much sums up Zurich

Yeah, 44.36 pretty much sucks.
Ritz set the American Record at 5000m in Zurich in 2009 after the World Championships.
I do prefer when they had this meet shortly before Worlds.
I like he idea of Worlds being the last meet of the season.
But some people may hold back in meets before Worlds.
They have no reason to hold back now.
And the medalists can request nicer appearance fees.
Well yeah exactly -- if the high school kids got paid big bucks for showing up and dropped big times.
Yea, that's about how I saw it as well. Oddest results of the year. Except Kirani James keeps running in the 44's right after getting his driver's license.

Yeah, cause Footlocker, NXN, NBN, Junior Nationals, NON are such terrible meets.

Seriously! These post WC meets are awesome! And we have Rieti coming up! If Zurich is Footlocker, Rieti is the equivalent of the Pre Classic for the kids that get invited.
You could tell that most of the athletes were much less pumped than they were at worlds. Kemboi didn't even pull out the obscene victory dance.
