Wow, I never quite understood how little you guys knew about sprinting until this thread, and Clowns' post in particular.

Is no one going to take a second look at the idea that Bolt is definitely moving before Blake twitches? Can we get a response from Rojo on that?
It sure looks like Bolt was in motion before Blake moved.
I do think Bolt started due to Blake's twitch, but I think Blake's twitch was triggered by Bolt's motion.
That's not what I see at all. I see Bolt react very shortly after Blake's leg moves. React time is about a tenth of a second so it might look simultaneous, but it's not.
Hopefully, some good will come of this in that the idiotic one false start rule will be torched. I think that some folks are forgetting the starter is judge and jury and argument is now irrelevant.
You are absolutely correct that argument is now irrelevant, but in all fairness, the officials failed to check seismographic data at the start of the race to see if the athletes received any differential stimulus from a fault line running exactly between their upper bodies and their legs.
The foot movement could easily be explained by such a seismic displacement, which would not otherwise be visible because any resulting rupture in the earth's surface would be masked by the elastic Mondo surface.
I notice that none of the officials was consulting a seismograph, and that could be a reason for an appeal.
However, I've never found seismology to be that appealing. Plus, doesn't intelligent design entirely discredit plate tectonics?
Rojo - I don't have the time to read thru 7 pages of replies so I apologize if this was already mentioned. Your youtube video is further evidence of something. That something is that people should not make youtube videos unless they are sober. Also, please get a tripod; I am sea sick from watching the screen move around as if I'm on a 12 foot dinghy during Hurricane Irene.
Also, in fairness, I think Rejo felt the earth move last night.
Not to mention Rojo.
Rejo is the half-brother of Wejo and Rojo, in case you're wondering--he's the guy behind the wall through which all the wires go, holding a seismograph...

Yea, my thoughts are the same. I think they were just looking for attention and publicity with these statements. That video was too much. Gotta get hits on the website, though. $$$

Jeez rojo, get over yourself.
Epic thread. Good to see rojo getting passionate about this topic. Hopefully other Ivy coaches don't show his youtube video to recruits saying "do you want to run for this guy? He seems a little unbalanced"

My main point is if the starter had benefit of our replay that he wouldn't DQ Bolt. It's like when there is a minor noise in the crowd. Maybe a green card or dq or warning for blake. But no way Bolt should be DQd.
Make that 51.
No doubt Blake should have been DQ'ed. His flinch caused Bolt to react. Athletes at this level are so in tune with everything around them, there is little doubt in my mind that Bolt's jump was caused by Blake's flinch.
Bolt was too classy to point the finger at his team mate. They need to change the rule back to giving the first false start to the field.
