I was just wondering if I could get some basic Tips and Advice on good racing tactics? I'm a High School Athlete, so we run 5Ks in Cross Country. Any generic/always applicable strategies?

depends on if you're a first place guy, a top 10, a top 25, back from that ... in invitationals. How fast you run, how confidant you are, you a speed guy or an even pace more distance trained, flat courses/hilly courses
Don't go out too fast.
Always remember XC is a race for place and not for time.
+1 What Mr. Obvious said. Obviously.
The main thing kids do wrong in HS xc is go out too fast. You know a coach is good when his team is mid pack at the mile and winning the meet by the end. It takes a team being disciplined and trusting their coach for that to actually happen.
