Abdi Bile's son.
Talented
America's hope for the future.
1500m Gold medal in 2016?
He could be a dangerous runner once he figures it all out. He can run 800m-5k and sits back and kicks and usually waits until the end to make his move. Check out this video of the 2010 VA XC finish at the 3:58 mark.

He was around #10-12 at mile 1 and was #2 with 800m to go and 75-100m back from the leader.
He is a very good talent for sure, but he needs to learn to race. He is a sit and kick type, like his old man was...which will only work until kids figure that out.
After the mile at the AAA VA meet, he was toast he came back to run 2:00.68.
Do you know his splits in that mile? Most of the country's elite would be toast too! Also, rumor has it that his school runs extremely low mileage (30-40 during base and xc season, 20 during track) so I think hes got a lot left in the tank. How does everyone think he'll do nationally this year? Anyone see him beating cheserek or any other big names?
Times ?
Age?
The good news is that he just starting running as a soph. His father was a great athlete winning NCAA's championships and he beat Coe and Overt to win at the '86 World Championships by outkicking Coe down the stretch.
Ahmed will be an NCAA champion if he goes to the right school with the right coach. A high mileage program will not work for him as Abdi, the father, never ran over 40 miles in a week yet still did pretty well.
He's run (800, 1000, 1600, 5000)
1:50.77
2:28.14
4:09.48 (going 2:10, 1:59)
15:02
also he's 17
Ahmed will have the perfect season this year (3 national titles, never losing a race on the way) because hes just THAT good.
Kid runs every other day in the summer.
14th at Footlocker as a Junior and 1:50 winning in the 800m
Unlike his old man he is more of a 5k runner ini the long run.
That being said expect 1:47 high out of him this year
Yes, many people would be toast after a mile run the way he did at the state meet. He is good, very good...imagine how good he would be if he ran everyday and was a smart racer.
I'm calling BS on him running every other day. Where did you get that info?
So what's the right school and right coach?

um, thats tough. The best middle distance coach in the country is 2 hours away, Vig at UVA. If Vig is good enough for Robbie Andrews, Leo Manzano, and Alan Webb then he is good enough for Ahmed Bile.
I say Oregon for this kid. Can anyone say next Andrew Wheating?
Sounds nasty.
Hopefully he is as nice as his Dad but more durable a runner
There are better but vig gets the best. Doesnt mean he is the best.
This kid is super overrated. Yea he might do well, but he hasnt won anything big as a junior. Biggest claim to fame this kid has is a state title or two...by the time guys like gedyon, moussa, etc. were juniors they were already elite high school runners.
Having been at meets with Bile, I can 100% confirm he is the type to sit and kick. Not only did he only begin to seriously run his Sophomore year, he also dealt with injury for more than 1/2 of the 2010 Cross Country season. He went from a 17:44ish Sophomore PR to a 15:21 his Junior year with a State Title to boot. He is incredibly fast, has the genetics to be great. I hope he ends up at a good college.
I think we'll see:
1:48.43
4:04.21
and hopefully 14:58.00 in the 5K.
I'd like to see him sneak under 15 this year and in a race with plenty of people to push the pace I think he could do it.
I think he will have a very good year and I'm excited to watch him run at Nationals, etc.
He won't ever be as good as me.
