Not really sure what response you are looking for when you say types of programs.
If you mean d1 or d3, you'd be able to run for some not so good d1 schools, and nearly any d3 school.
with 50.0 speed, correct me if i'm wrong, but you could eventually be approaching 4:00 for the mile, and that comes with some serious improvements at all other distances.
yes my question was initially between d1 d2 and d3, if i can run at most d3 schools, and only poor d1 schools would it be better for me as s runner to go to a d3 program or a d1 program? can you give any example d1 schools i could go to? thanks for the help.
You'll end up on the scrap heap at most D1 schools - overlooked and burned out from trying to prove yourself in workouts to coaches who are much better at recruiting than they are at developing talent.
Seek out a D2 school with a good coach...might get some $$ aid...or plenty of D3 schools would be thrilled to have you.
The more important aspects are where you want to be and your academics.
Find a bunch of schools that you like, both d1 and d3 (and/or d2) and decide which ones are the best fit for you. Look at the programs/results/depth charts and compare yourself to the athletes on their teams. See where you would fit in if you joined the team with your projected improvement after senior year. Talk to the coach and figure out what they do for training and decide whether or not you think the training will help you improve. Also see if the coach thinks you would be a good fit for the team. Most coaches will be very blunt and either tell you that they would like you with them or that they don't think your times are fast enough.
As a poster mentioned, your 400 speed combined with your endurance means you have a lot of room for improvement. If a coach at a d1 school doesn't think that, you probably don't want to be at that program.
Also, to answer your question about d1 schools that you could go to: you could go to any d1 school that you apply to and into which you get accepted.

wtf you can run 4:35 and 51 and only ran a 1:59?
Train hard this summer and approach a level of fitness you have yet to experience. Try your hardest this year to make yourself become the best runner possible.
With that being said. Find schools that you like and are academically strong. You aren't a running stud so an education is key for you, if you get good at running that is icing on the cake.

Times vary. I've run 4:19 and I can barely run 1:58.
It was unfortunate, i ran the 4:35 in the beggening of the season coming off a lot of offseason training, then in the following week i got a stress fracture, only had 3 weeks to train before leagues and then the state qualifying meets, so i didnt have much time to do mile training and focused on shorter distances that required less fitness. thats why i got the 51 and the 1:59. i always felt that if i had trained through those 6 weeks, i could have had a much better 800 or mile. but who knows.
