At least Broe and Torre finished races and made Olympic and World Championship finals. These two quit before the gun even goes off. They are starting to look like Alan Webb.

I agree with you because Chris is always acting like he is beyond approach and character is more important than results.....I just don't get it anymore with this guy.....seems he wants to be liked but is acting out of character....I to have some respect for him....2 races this year DNF?....and both are very suspect!
Beyond approach? Really?
From my old coach Mr. Moose,
"Winners never quit and quitters never win".
Chris will be back, and after hearing and reading a common opinion from his fans, most likely his father, and his coach, he will run with a huge chip on his shoulder and that is when he has often raced best.
After the 10k in Eugene:
"I don't drop out of races*"
"*Except for when I'm just pacing Teg in a 10k, when my hamstring is tight in a 10k, or when I get pushed, or when I realize Rupp isn't running anymore, or for any other conceivable reason that someone might drop out of a race"
Anyone remember a race where Mr.Viren fell and got up to win a gold medal in Munich? Lasse and Pre are guys you should look up too.
did anyone else see the guy fall down just after 3k? The commentators didn't notice, and I barely did, but he got back up and was back ahead of Teg within 200m. Couldn't see who it was though, so I don't know were he finished.
Solinsky is mentally fractured right now. I suggest he should give Webb a call to set up an appointment with Webb's top tier sports psychologist.
Anyone remember blood doping?

This is the difference between winners...and whiners. And why distance athletes from Oregon never win anything.
Yea.. you are correct, Oregon distance runners have never won anything... chode

Ha that will make him dns instead of end!

If he loses his momentum and has a 0% chance of winning, there really ISN'T a point to finishing the race.
At least 50% of almost any group racing on the track has no chance of winning. Usually more like 70-80% or more. Should they all drop out or just DNS?
Exactly! Ever heard of Billy Mills??? Some of you are saying that it would have been pointless to finish, WRONG. Just because you might not win does that mean you should quit? If more athletes had the mindset of you people then we would only have 1 person ever finish a race. Everyone else would give up because they didn't think they could win. Sometimes you know you can't win, that doesn't mean the race is not worth running though.

Puzzling comment when you're talking about a race won by an Oregon runner (Farah).
I think there is a lot to be said for fighting through to finish a race. Whether you were bumped, or fell or were just having an off day, pushing yourself to finish the race and fight for the best time you can achieve on that day, will help prepare you (and your body!) to do the same in future races. Giving up only prepares you to give up again.
I have also lost respect for Solinsky as a result of his behavior this year.
If Brian Sell what the prototype "blue collar" runner, I guess that would make Solinsky the "lace collar" runner.
Knee socks, whining and DNFs all not the hallmarks of a Great American hero.
Viren was blood doping, and it was an Olympic race, not a tune up before Worlds. Every race you idiots are comparing this to were championship races. Solinsky's circumstances and all these stupid references are completely different.
Show me a video of any other world class athlete falling with 800 to go in a race that doesn't mean anything, and then getting up and finishing. Solinsky and Rupp both now that only Worlds matter right now.
I'm honestly so frustrated as a fan of the sport that our two best American-born distance athletes (Rupp and Solinsky) have yet to complete a real race. USA's was cool and all but it was tactical BS. Worlds will be cool and all but it will be more tactical BS. Rupp and Solinsky will be going in with barely any racing under their belt and will have no confidence. They were longshots to medal before and are no better off now. I would much rather watch Rupp or Solinsky race a hard/fast Diamond League race than watch them get 5th or 6th tying up in the last 200 of a major championship. Nike pays these guys to be professional athletes. They barely ever race. They make it very difficult to be a fan of the sport.
Al Sal kisses bo-bos better.
