BATC is a great club. Stanford has huge meets. SoCalUsatf has more meets and races in a month than PaUsatf has in a year.

False. Los Gatos, Diablo Valley, Dublin HS, SF State, Cal, Stanford, CSM, Santa Rosa HS, UC Davis, Sac State, UOP Stockton, Delta College Stockton.
All NorCal Pacific Association.
X10 for ScCal
Ah. I love Frisco. My favorite vacation spot. But Mt Sac Relays alone each year has more entries that every PAUSATF meet held the entire year.
Gotta laugh at the folks saying Cali is the the best location for USATF. You guys have great weather no doubt and having training centers there is very nice but...
Money Center of the world = NYC
Media Capital of the world = NYC.
I'm not sure why USATF is in Indy. NYC is without a doubt where is should be if there is concern about money and media exposure.
Plus again Vin is a NY guy.
Too bad Boulder doesn't have a class A track facility. It would be a bigger track town than Eugene in terms of attendance and Colorado already turns out more homegrown talent per capita than New York, California, and especially Oregon.
LA is the media, sports, entertainment, porno, movie, recording capitol of the US. LA is the T&F Capitol of the earth. LA is where the most of T&F & Olympics sports medals come from in the world. LA created the TV industry, internet, 500 channel cable/sat, Super Bowl, profitable Olympics. 75% of what you watch on TV today was masde in LA.
Now we know what organization her son will never be a part of.

You mean aside from the fact that every major television media center is in NEW YORK, not L.A. All L.A. has is hollywood and celebs. Both vapid. All the decisions are made in New York, where the corporate headquarters are, the shows are filmed in L.A. The people in L.A. dont give a rats ass about anything. Thats why L.A. has no football team. The Lakers have the most disinterested fans I've ever seen. They don't care about sports. New York on the other hand...
P.S. I hate both cities, but especially hate NY media because they dont seem to understand that the country doesnt care about NY (remember when the NY media was dumbstruck that the rest of the country didnt care about the "subway world series"?) BUT, New York is still the where the power lies, not L.A.
95% of TV is L.A. If we want Pro athlete's money then L.A. is it. There's no two ways about it. We only have 2-5 years where we can cash in so many young ones are coming up. Otherwise we are stuck, slapped down by BMX, Nascar, MMA, Poker, etc. Any enterprise is welcome with open arms to L.A. Oprah opened OWN in West L.A. and moved her studios and offices. The Super Bowl was created in the 1960's by the L.A. Rams and Hollywood TV executives. The 1st profitable, global live Olympics was created by UCLA track man and mayor of L.A. USATF, NFL, etc. are welcome to L.A. For a sucessful move take a hint from the Oprah and provide 100% of your own funds to setup shop. The NFL so far has failed in this regard. USATF should be in L.A. Still do meets elsewhere but USATF should be in the sports, entertainment, and media center of the planet earth, Hollywood USA!
If NYC was nuked by a tactical suitcase nuke life would easily go on in the USA. If LA was nuked the internet would vanish, the US would shut down, and it would take 10 years to recover.
She isn't leaving USATF. She is still on the Board. How WONDERFUL !!!!

Falsely obfuscating the reality. The PA meet is irrelevant. There are more athletes competing at the SF Distance Carnival and Cardinal Invitational (held on the same day, a mere 25 miles apart), than at Mt. SAC. There are many, MANY meets year-round in NorCal.
Also no one goes to the LA meets. The stands are empty for the Carson meets which featured America's best athletes.
Lasty, all of the shit you cite, porn, acting, movies, 500 channels, Superbowl created by the LA Rams (Oh, snap! Where are they playing now? St. Louis?? Haha, what's up with that?) blablah. USA track & field is COMPETING with that. LA is the most distracted, Twitterfied, celebrity shallow 'city' (sprawling metropolis with horrible traffic, air quality and crime) in the world. If you cannot field a freaking NFL team in LA due to lack of interest, you certainly cannot support track & field. Next!
Umm, there are 20M people in Cali south of Santa Barbara to the Mexican border and at least 5 times the entries at meets and races as NC.
Mt Sac Relays is the largest T&F meet in the world simultaneously utitlizing 3 tracks and 5 field, 2 weeks long, one major intercontinentail and four major international airports.
Since UCLA invented the Internet and Hughes Aircraft invented 500 Channel satellite, So Cal is the virtual home for all NFL, MLB, NHL, and NBA teams.
So Cal loves NC. 1/3 of the So Cal water comes from NC. For the 84 Olys Mayor Tom Bradley made sure Stanford was able to host the Soccer final medal games. That was good for the NC and for the whole Cali state.
Let's keep the love for NC and the love for So Cal alive.
Cut it out. USATF is the whole United States. We need everyone's cooperation and enthusiasm.
Can somebody please enlighten me what legendary Vin has done???I am young so I only noticed his "legacy" for the past 5-7 years.
Oregon has an unlimited budget huge tradition, unlimited support from Nike, Nike contract for Oregon student athletes once they are done, best facility and public in the country if not the world.
Oregon is hardly a complete track and field team, no men sprinters, no men jumpers, no men relays....The women team hardly has any throwers and jumpers. Overall huge gaps
Bunch of distance runners....that are not even dominating the NCAA...
They are not dominating by any means in cross country or in track...
If Vin would be the great head coach and manager people talk about then Oregon should have a winning streak like Arkansas, LSU, Texas A&M in their good days during his time at Oregon.
Vin was able to coach-lead the Ivy league's Dartmouth to second overall at the NCAAs in the 1990s. This was his arguably most impressive accomplishment and he's gotten a lot of mileage out of it.
Vin also coached Stanford to great heights in the 1990s and early 2000s. In 1999 Stanford had an extraordinarily low winning score at the NCAAs, but also the guys he had were Footlocker studs.
Stanford has all sorts of funding from Lou Arrigilla (donated $400 million) and the like, similar to Oregon's benefactor relationship with Nike and Phil Knight. In between Stanford and Oregon, he took a gig as the Athletic Director at Oberlin for a couple of years.
Guys, it took the whole USA to make us #1 at IAAF Berlin 2009 (medals by USADA registered home states):
