In Lignano, 45.07 and the win. Good for him.

good for him for the pr
bad for track of he's runs in a championship
If you need a result bad enough Lignano is the place. That's a huge drop all of sudden isn't it?
Agreed. On the list of insanely horrible decisions by the IAAF, I'd put this a close 2nd to "charge a false start to the field".
Not sure how to feel about it, but great run nevertheless.
That is crazy. So, is pandora's box open now?

I'm assuming the result is legit but the same thought did cross my mind.
My question is has an able bodied athlete had such a similar breakthrough in the middle of a season?
Oscar had never run under 45.61. 2 days ago he ran 46.65. Boom now he's running 45.07.
The IAAF botched the inquiry against Oscar P but the science I have read points to him having an unfair advantage so I don't think he should be running Worlds.
At this rate of improvement, he'll win Worlds easily.

Or someone like him will, in the not too distant future.
Does anyone know what lane he raced in today? I have seen just about every race he has run this season, and all have been in lane 1 as he has been in huge meets where that is the only lane he could get. If he ran in lane 4 ,5 or 6 today, I could see him running that much faster.
L
He will crush the field in London. I predict 43.40
The guy is jogging. Is running at 70% in the first 200.
Doesn't seem to be a consensus on whether he has an unfair advantage or not.

I find it absolutely incredible how some of you, the Founder of this site included, find it necessary to negatively criticize the PR of a man RUNNING WITH NO LEGS!!!! Have you no humanity??!!
Mr. Pistorius did not choose this predicament that he is in, having no natural legs. Thanks to the ingenuity of the engineering world, he has some great man-made legs.
Our beloved sport needs remain as an all-inclusive sport and egalitarian sport....if you can hit the qualifying times, you run the race. Period.
You guys are as bad as that nincompoop in the USATF who denies athletes the opportunity to compete in the USA Championships and the Olympic Trials "just because he can."
As some of us know, there are some "magical tracks" in this world: Stanford, Heusden, Lignano, and Rieti seem to qualify for the "magical track list." Also on my list is the track at the Nihon Aerobics Center in Chiba, Japan.
I wish Mr. Pistorius all the best in Korea.
I think you have completely missed the point here Jason.
How about we allow weelchair with "able bodied" runners?...There's no advantage right?
I agree with MAYEROFF, in fact, just to make up for his lack of limbs, let's put some even springier carbon fiber on those appendages. A few world records that will never be touched by someone without a technological advantage is all he asks for....
Any list of "magical tracks" without Hayward Field is blatantly biased.

are you really as dumb as you usually seem to be on the message board?
I second your sentiment Jason. The LR tendency to accuse someone of cheating whenever they show an unexpected improvement is tiresome. This message board is overrun with petty, jealous, whiners.
I'll be rooting for the "fastest man on no legs" at the World Championships.
Absolutely. Well done Oscar Pistorius.
You guys are still missing the point. Of course he did great, of course it is commendable that he has such goals.
BUT YOU ARE MISSING THE POINT.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
