Any comparison is absurd. Bolt could wear swim fins and beat Dix.
correction:
Bolt could wear swim fins, breathe through a snorkel, and beat Dix.

Well what do you know, the rest of my thread got eaten.
I think I said that Powell has run a handful of 9.78/9.77, a 9.74, and a 9.72.
If Powell is at his best, which it looks like he will be, Bolt will have to run sub-9.7 to win, something he has only done twice, both when he was in excellent championship form.
He didn't show that form last season, and so far he hasn't shown it this season.
My top 3: Powell-Bolt-Blake.
Unless we see something new in Monaco.
I predict 9.76/9.75 corrected from Bolt, which would be a 9.8x into a headwind.
He has to put up a good number. There is a big difference between "knowing" you can do something, and actually DOING it.
I would dearly love to see anybody in the 100m wipe their ass with Bolt, but I don't think it will happen.
Bolt already beat Powell, who is already in such great shape. Granted it was close and in the last step, but if I recall it was Bolt's first race and the in shape Powell still couldn't beat him.
If I were Dix, I'd be saying "Imma show you how great I am!"
That was not the in-9.78-shape Powell who is running today.
What do you think Bolt will run in Monaco, and do you think it matters?
I've thought that there is a useful test for artificial HGH. At least wikipedia says so.
Ali was always ready when he fought.
For the record, I think Powell absolutely has a fighting chance of winning gold in Daegu. He's so damned consistent compared to a lot of other world class sprinters. This guy has run under 9.90 so many times I lost count and sub 9.8 several times as well. And he's in pretty good shape this year. I just think it's ridiculous for him to go around saying he's virtually a lock for the win.
Powell has to be in absolute top form to have a good shot at beating Bolt. Bolt can be 85% fit and still win gold. Not to mention some of these other up-and-comers breathing down Powell's neck (Mullings, Blake, Dix, etc).
Yeah, Clay/Ali knew how to prepare. Howard Cossell once asked him how he threw such an effective, devastating jab.
He said that he would train his nuts off and when the fight began he did NOT jab to the guy's chin. He jabbed to the back of the guy's neck, picturing the fist going right through everything.
