Chiming in after a few weeks off. Training is going very well though running is still very minimal. Logging about 100 mpw spread across biking/pool running & walking. I've been getting the HR well into the Threshold zone for long periods on the bike. A few weeks ago I started mixing in a bit of actual running into my walks which seems to be going well. SLOWLY working my way back into running this time. I think things are going to be ok. The achilles is 95-100% most of the time. And I feel pretty good every day!
My only brush with Kevin Castille was a very brief time at the USATF Mile Champs awards in 2017. At the time it was a very cool experience as I was stunned to be called up with him (and Nat) as one of the top three age graded times. He seemed very nice, I shook his hand and said 'I don't belong up here!' (kind of a stupid thing to say but as a self proclaimed introvert that's all I had) He said 'You belong now'... We had our pic taken and that was it. I always thought he was clean and was just an amazing running and actually feel bad for him. Whats he going to do now? I was probably a little too mean to him on my FB post. Sorry.
Thinking about upgrading my bike to a decent road bike. I'm pretty sure biking will part of world in the future, with or without running. I've got an older Trek 720 cross bike so it might be time to get a real road bike. I'm open for suggestions in the $1500'ish range.
See you on the roads...Someday.
