lol that's awesome
That's great. It's awesome to see a pro athlete trying to relate to his fans.
I have to say he is pretty funny for doing this...and the fact that he even pays attention to what people post on here about "Teg don't run no 10K' is funny. I hope he runs well.
I laughed so loud someone popped their in my office to see what was going on.

Agreed. Funny stuff, Matt. And good luck Sunday -
I love it! The sport needs more good humored and good natured athletes we can get behind. Good luck Matt!
We will never forget the Bowerman 5K fiasco!!!
Matt Tegenkamp is just as guilty as Alan Webb.
The "K" is for "Krete": a track 10000 is NOT a 10K
I think that K only means "Krete" to you rec runner. I am pretty sure any actual elite runner out there don't care if you say 10k or 10,000m to talk about the Payton Jordan race. Ones that are on the border are the ones that get offended and find the need to correct others when they mean the same thing. Both are run on tracks and roads.
Ask any elite their 10000 PR then their 10K PR and you'll get two different answers (unless they JUST happen to be the same time). Just like they'll give you two different #s for 8K- road and cross.

Teg don't read letsrun.
I wasn't aware that 10k or 10,000m were different. I always though the simple conversations between kilometers and meters was done by dividing/multiplying by 1,000. Guess not.
Nice.

Traditionally, 10000m and 5000m are what runners call ten- and five-thousand meter races on the track, and 10k and 5k are what runners call ten- and five-thousand meter races on other surfaces (such as roads or cross country). Yes, a 10k and a 10000m are the same length, but their connotations are different to the educated runner or running fan.
Where is the original Teg don't run the 10K thread?
I can't find it.
Oh man, this is going to be an epic race...
