Oh come on! If you're going to provide terribly incomplete results from the days most anticipated race, you have to provide a link. That's a rule. Don't you know that by now?
Wow, this life is absolutely DONE.
Someone said on another thread he should transfer to Oregon. I agree. He needs some nurturing and good consistent coaching. Obviously, something is wrong at OSU.

Ummm...can YOU run 3:44?
AJ just ran 3:57 at Oregon. Why would GF go there? AJ should transfer to OSU to recapture his magic of this past summer before Vin messes him up any further.
No. That's not the point. This kid has had too many expectations on him since leaving HS. He is an awesome athlete and talent. That talent must be driven in a positive direction which will allow him room to grow and become one of the best. It's not happenning at OSU. That's the point.
while its obvious german is not running well for him right now, the people on these boards who have the balls to suggest they know what he should do to fix it are absolutely laughable...
you guys realize you know nothing about hid training or health right...and without that are in absolutely no position to make suggestions
Whats crazy is that after two years of sub par performances from German, we all stay up late to look at his results and criticize him after every race.
Give the guy a break. Just because he ran fast in high school doesn't mean he owes any one on here anything. People act like it is a crime against humanity for a runner to not meet his potential, especially when his potential is so outstanding.
I believe that German will figure it out one day and get back to where he can be. But even if he never runs a step faster than as an 18 year old, I can't really be mad at him.

That's his best race at this distance this year, it's actually a step in the right direction.
who are you to say that? wrote:

Please explain how this is relavant...
Man has this guy lost a boatload of money. Would anyone give him a contract at this point? Clearly he can come back to elite form (and likely will), but now the Nike's of the world will still have big questions even when he puts up some better results.

hahahaha yeah...he'll get a contract
his contract will also be bigger than pretty much anyone in the ncaa except for possibly chelanga or andrews assuming they both continue to run well (and Chelanga gets his citizenship)
History has not been kind to HS phenoms. I am sure Nike is aware of this and are willing to give him a chance to prove himself in the professional arena - with full tiem training and a phat contract.
Did you see the video of A.J. Acosta's 3:57 race? He was running well and with Centrowitz through three laps when suddenly he got a cramp and had to jog a 75 second final lap. A.J. Acosta ran a 3:36/3:53 at the end of last summer, he has developed beyond what most expected of him....so, yes maybe German should transfer to Oregon. Problem is, I think he'd have to sit out a year and then he'd only have one year to run competitively to try to get back his racing ability.
while I agree with you on the contract issue im not sure "history has not been kind to high school phenoms" statement is accurate
the closest related class to germans is of course the webb ritz hall class
since graduating, all 3 have at one time broken an american record (or at least american born record)
that is not to say they have not struggled, but depite their struggled they have all been worth the investment
listen man, so what if he doesn't run up to your standards... theres a ton of guys out there running track and not getting shit thrown in their face everytime they race. Treat like anyone else whos running track and enjoying it. He's getting a good education out of it that im sure he wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise.
Just cuz he's not running as fast as you think he should, so what? get off the guys sack and let him just be a runner.
If he wanted to he could chose to stop running forever today and no one could tell him anything so don't invest so much time into what he's doing cuz he's doing what he wants so just let it be.

Alan Webb, Jim Ryun, Dathan Ritzenhein, Ryan Hall, and many others say that you're wrong. Their American or even world records support their claims.
Exactly so. While there are no guarantees, superstars early have a much higher chance of being superstars when it matters.
It's like the meme that picking quarterbacks early is very unreliable. In fact, 13 of 45 Super Bowls to date have been won by quarterbacks drafted #1 overall. (Eli Manning and Peyton Manning each won one, Troy Aikman won three, John Elway won two, Jim Plunkett won two, Terry Bradshaw won four.)
