Makes sense; if I were him I'd try for a sub-4 right now too while still in shape and not have to wait for a whole new season.

I'll be there watching that race. I think Nick has a great shot at going under 4:00. This seems to be a race for the sole purpose of breaking 4, so I don't see any reason for it to be tactical.
And if it's about overall athletic performance, well, no one compares to Williams. Not only close to impossible to get into, but they also have won 14 of the 16 Director's cup trophies handed out since 1995.[/quote]
Actually Williams has won 14 of the 15 Director's Cup trophies. The only exception was UCSD as they were turning into a D II program.
Stephen Furst of Adidas Raleigh wins in 3:59. Nick Guarino was 4th in 4:05.
No, he ran 4:00.00
My apologies. Obvious got a wrong report. How did the race play out OrangeCounty?
He meant Furst ran 4:00.00 (actually 4:00:08 I hear), I haven't had word on Guarino outside your report.
If I remember correctly, Mike Fox (rabbit) took it out in 59-2:00. Then Anthony LaMastro/Guarino were running together, 3:01 at 1210m and with ~600m left Furst made a move and went to the lead. It was a good race to watch, I thought for sure Furst was going to/did break 4. The time on the clock was stopped at 3:59.
guarino must have been tired from double at nats, which were two days before this race.
