"Beavus" if you can, try to convince your Navy people to put you at NAS Fallon (Nevada) after you finish at Annapolis. The altitude is moderate at about 4000 feet, but there are a lot of flat areas and some nice hills (such as Sand Mountain) near Fallon. I don't know how the military works but maybe this is doable, maybe not.
As for your upcoming run at Boston, DO NOT CANCEL. If you run 2:34, it's a good thing.
As for your pace training, you need more miles. Wake up early and do 10 miles at 7:30-8:00 per mile. You don't need to run fast to make your muscles strong. This is a central part of the Japanese approach.
If you train properly you can definitely get down to about 2:25 at Chicago, maybe faster.
