I've learned that when it comes to running, all of us are smarter than one of us
Usually.

Usually.
I learned some age groupers/masters cheat at local charity races and no one knows why?
I learned that Robbie Andrews is not a good 800m runner because he didn't double or peak when it counted like Andrew Wheating.
I learned that if you dont stop until you reach your goal, you will reach your goal.
I like others learned that if you post a topic up saying you won't stop untill you reach your goal that you can reach that goal. This is only possible if one post the topic up on letsrun. Because dreams don't become reality anywheres else.
I learned Halie Gebrselassie is the new Brett Farve

That.
Together with all of LR, I learned some true fundamentals.
I learned that:
"Mr. Juantorena was successful at the Montreal Olympic Games because he trained hard and he raced hard to win."
The value of the statements depends on who makes them.
In this case the philosopher who made this observation was in a truly unique position to evaluate - because he was on Juantorena's shoulder coming off the final turn of the Olympic 800.
I learned that the mzungu whine too much these days. The philosopher who made this statement made no excuses for his performance. Far from it, he explained here on Letsrun.com his precise reasoning. There is too much reliance on antigravity treadmills, on electrolyte brews, on technobabble, and not enough on 400 meter repeats.
From this philosopher's accomplishments, from his lack of excuses and the savagery of his training, I learned that once upon a time, the mzungu were hard. I learned that they may not be now, but that does not mean that they can never be great again.
I learned that I better not say anything unless I want to argue.
I learned that there is a guy around here that thinks compression socks are too expensive.
I learned that eating asparagus makes my pee smell.
I learnt that Simon Bairu will set Canadian national records for the 5K, 10K, and HM in 2010. Or not.

People are not arguing with most of the posts in this thread. Stop being so pessimistic.
I learned that a 3:07 marathon is sub-elite.
I learned that there are some people who claim to be Bret Favre fans that can't seem to spell his last name.
I learned that luke puksedra cannot hold his alcohol and that AJ can be a fall guy.

Did he take dick pics too?
I learned that Ryan Hall has a new, ever-present coach.
I learned that I am one of very few posters who use their real names. I also noticed that the arrival of a famous poster such as Wolhuter on the board evoked a huge response.
I wonder why this board is dominated by pseudonyms. What are people hiding? Does anonymity serve a useful purpose besides unleashing a lot of expletives?
I learned that few runners have discovered the cross training magic of cross country skiing (skating style). It has extended my running career, such as it is, by 20 years.
And I learned that malmo often makes incisive and compendious posts. Who is malmo?

Sometimes it's just fun to make up names.... sometimes the poster wants to share something more personal than s/he otherwise shares ... sometimes s/he isn't home and has forgotten the saved password. And maybe s/he is someone very famous--not necessarily in running--and doesn't want the world to know that s/he posts on LR... (although personally I see nothing wrong with doing so).
I learned that if people say bad stuff about Mark Whetmore they will sue you, even if there is no legal basis.
I learned that all high schoolers now post on here.....poorly.
I learned that the Brojos still have a pedestrian style of writing.
I learned that I have to learn the right way to run with my thumbs.
And finally, I learned that stalking a girl who works at a coffee shop (whether it be in person or mobile device) will lead to temporary insanity and not yield any Poontang.
I learned that some runners have heals instead of heels and it may or may not matter how you use them when you run.
I also learned that some people have really strong opinions about their heal/heels.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
