The only thing amazing about Cam (and fam)is how he scammed everyone incluidng the Heisman voters. . .
Don't act as if the Heisman is steeped in integrity-clad sanctity. It's pretty much about the best player on the best team, which based solely on how he performed on the field of play was Cam Newton this year. Some voters and their apologists may pretend that it's about something else, but really it isn't. OJ still has his Heisman.
Not every Heisman winner can be the best QB in the NFL.
uh no-fact check. I believe O.J. does not still have his heisman trophy. I believe he sold it or tried to auction it off-before he went to jail, again.
Yeah he is a double murderer scum bag so what's the point?
Cam the scam and fam will probably have their problems when they venture into the real world if past performance is any example.
The Gators were well rid of him.

Because he can't throw the ball. Oregon (48th in the country) dared him to throw the ball last night and he didn't make them pay despite having ample opportunity. They took the run away. He had trouble hitting receivers. If you make throws like he made last night to wide open receivers, especially when it is clear they are going to score, you don't make it in the NFL.
Dalton, Moore, Luck (when he comes out next year), and Locker are all better prospects. After last night's performance, he'll be lucky to be picked in the first round. This will actually give him a better chance to make it in the NFL. Sit behind a proven starter for a couple years (Brady, Manning) and learn how to be a passer. Unfortunately for him, he'll KILL all of the other quarterbacks at the combine (althoug I think a Vince Young wonderlic might be in his future). Some moron GM will go all "Akili Smith/Mike Mamula" and draft him top ten..... Buddy Nix of my Buffalo Bills seems a likely candidate.
He did blow a for sure touchdown, his other chance to strike deep was a bit deep, when his reciever was breaking away.
On the flipside, he made a great throw on auburn's first possesion, taking it deep downfield, only to have his sub-par reciever completely blow an easy catch. In addition, he made some very good throws and even better throw aways.
I agree he hurt his stock last night a bit by blowing those 2 throws. He was actually throwing really well the 2nd and 3rd quarters, not sure why they got away from that and tried to run the clock down the entire 4th.
Last night was as bad as he played all year and it was still a decent game overall, despite really 2 bad passes, a few just misses and a fumble/int. If he would have played like he did all season, those passes would have been made, no INT and Auburn would have won by 21+. He didn't and now will take a nose dive in the draft because of it.
I was just plain old unimpressed with Cam Newton last nite. This was the 1st time I saw him play.
So, time to resuscitate this thread after Cam Newton opened his NFL career with 400 plus yards and two touchdown passes, a dazzling debut according to ESPN.com, and a passer rating of 110. His team lost, but he had more yards than any other rookie qb in a debut ever.
Not impressive as you think. He had a very good first half. His second half was mediocre. The second half was a lot of try-to-catch-up garbage yardage.

Kinda like a reverse Vince Young so far. VY was mediocre stats and all wins and Cam is good stats and no wins...yet. Looks like he'll be just fine.
Umm Im sure this has been said but he has played in 2 games at present and lost them both. While he has played well I think we should hold off on the plaque engraving for the HOF till we see him play a few seasons.
Cam wasn't smart enough to have learned this past week that #21 for Green Bay is Charles Woodson.
Cam won't ever be as good as Rodgers is now, and Rodgers is just going to get better and better. In 5 years, Newton will be a backup.
Every time you discount Cam it just adds to your eventual embarrassing comeuppance. The Panthers have no running game so they put the entire game on his shoulders. So far he has one of the most remarkable rookie debuts.

actually, he threw for 432 yards today, not 332, and he also rushed for 53 yds and a td, leading his team. he threw one td pass but gave up three picks. Obviously, he's not all there yet and his team's 0 and 2, but who could seriously express any doubts about him being a massive qb talent, literally and figuratively, at this stage? He's played two NFL games and thrown for about 854 yards! No rookie QB has ever done anything like this yet. The basic fact is that throughout this thread people were criticizing him on the shaky foundation of race by saying that if one recent, high drafted black quarterback was a failure (oakland's), then this one must also be a failure. But there is no logical connection between the success of one football player and another, certainly not by virtue of race. We all know the draft's a chancy proposition, but you need to find better reasons to knock a guy than his race.
Trying to reason with people on a running messsage board about football isn't going to go over well.
Fact of the matter is, Cam Newton has compiled stats in his first 2 games that very few elite qb's in the history of the nfl have ever done. Up until 2008, only 5 qb's in NFL history had 400 yards in back to back games (I am sure the current # will be all over the radio/tv tonight/tomorrow).
Yes, Carolina is 0 - 2 but they are now relevant and played well against a great Packers defense. Is Cam the second coming.......No, but he is WAY better than ANYONE on this planet thought he would be at this point, from a statics point of few.
You can call them junk yards that he got in slop time but only 5 qb's in NFL history had done what he had done, up until 2008.
It will be interesting to see if he can continue to impress or crash and burn. Carolina is competitive when nobody thought they would be.
I sure as heck won't say he can't make it in this league but i do think it will het worse for him before it gets better. Opposing teams are compiling a book on him now and it will get tougher over the next 6 weeks.
Many a white folk must be shitting in their pants right now
with the emergence of Vick,Freeman and now Cam.The NFL as it is now is 69% black. If blacks begin to take over the QB,only positions left for whites will be kicker, snapper and waterboy.
