How about: he retired from the race to avoid drug testing?

I wager Geb has never heard of Favre.
Favre is a dope fiend and a perv.
Brett Favre is the Geb of football
Now that he\'s been been outed as a weirdo his rep is ruined for life.
Favre is a French Redneck Pervert.
Favre (farve) did all that?

Yes, most of it came straight from Deanna herself in interviews in different magazines and a book she wrote. Of course, she put it more gently than what I wrote, but basically pretty much showed me what type of person Brett really is. I honestly don't get the admiration of him, even before these latest allegations came out. Yes he is tough as hell, yes he plays the game with enthusiasm, yes he has won some amazing games and lost some embarrassing games, but overall just not a role model I would want my children to look up to.
NFL loves and encourages steroid use. Favre is a roid monster. A fake. Not a real athlete.

Someone might have thought this is a clever comparison, but in fact Haile hasn't once yet pulled the "retire and unretire" bit. Plus, he doesn't have an entire professional team franchise of 53 players depending on him.
I expect his retirement is real. He'll surely make a few ceremonial appearances at shorter races but the big-time marathoning is over.
called it
Well Favre recently set a career high for yards in a game (446) so maybe Geb has another PR in him.

Neither have I.
I wouldn't compare Geb to Favre, but I think this episode points out an important lesson. Never make important decisions based on how you are feeling following a big disappointment. Reflecting for a few days or more is always wise.
Who isn't? Almost anyone who has deriously run a marathon, has said during or immediatly after "I will never do that again!" Then the next day or a week later they are ready to go again!

Same thing with drinking.
source for all these allegations?
Mostly from his wife, but also various articles, interviews with teammates, etc. Most of this is all public knowledge if you have been following Brett all of these years. Most people just choose to ignore it because he was helping his team win. Did you honestly not know he had a drinking problem or drug problem? Did you honestly not know that he was known for being non-supportive to his back up quarterbacks. Did you honestly not know how it would manipulate the system to get out of pre-season practice. All pretty much public knowledge. The stuff about abandoning Deanna and his daughter in Green Bay, came from an interview with Deanna.
Brett Favre occasionally plays like a great quarterback.
Haile Gebresilasie is the embodiment of Greatness. In every respect.
You are simply unpatriotic. Praising a foreigner while dissing a great American player.! Shame on you. You must be a liberal.
I really, really, really enjoyed watching today's Packers/Vikings game. I don't think after Brett's next retirement that he will ever want to come back. I would not be surprised if he retired this week once he realizes he will be benched. But Ted Thompson was an idiot for not wanting to cater to Brett's indeciveness and selfishness and develop Aaron Rodgers. What a moron Ted is. Watching today's game everyone was able to see how dumb it was for Ted to look to the future. We would be so much better if we had let Brett play his games, kept him on the team, and let Aaron go play for another team. Yes, what an idiot Ted was.
