90% of Fords have avg or above avg ratings by consumer reports. Give the American auto makers time. They're making improvements and that's what matters.
Consumer reports isn't all that trustworthy & respected in the auto industry. I drive a honda & read daily the posts on my cars message board & the fellow owners take consumer reports with a grain of salt. You have to.
I'll always be a Toyota owner.
Toyota and Honda are catching up in terms of recalls.
I am a Subaru man myself.
Doesn't mean the above stats are wrong. Maybe all the companies above have all of their cars in the above average category. The problem with these lists is that they don't provide useful information. Great acura is rated higher than ford. But the real question is what is the difference. Is it 1:100 acuras have problems versus 50:100 fords or is it 1:100 acuras versus 1.1:100 fords. In the first case you would want to avoid ford. In the second case, it isn't worth losing sleep over. The last thing is to figure out what they are mentioning. One of these reports (I think it was a JD Powers 90 day evaluation) had hummer listed and the number 1 problem was poor fuel milage. While that may be true, if you bought an H2 expecting good gas mileage, I don't think the problem is with the car.
