Cash and revenue are two different things. As is cash and profit. As is cash and expense.
Companies do not need to make a profit to pay their employees.
Companies run losses all of the time.
Also, salary expense to work on a project can be capitalized and spread over time.
You will be paid now be either cash in the bank, current receivables, investors or borrowed money. No need to wait.
As future revenue out paces future expense cash flow will improve.
Losses can be sustained, though if growth is sustained at the right rate.
Anyway, profits are not always needed to pay current nor future employees.
