Running NYC, is it too late to get some new shoes? I feel like they have stopped giving me the support I need over the last week or so. Opinions on how long one should give to break a new pair of shoes in?

I believe if you have the right shoe, it won't need to be broken in. I once wore brand new shoes (a model I used all the time) in a 50-miler and had no problems. I also had no doubt that they'd be fine, because the shoes always worked for me.
i got a pair of streak 3s before a marathon i just ran . Only wore them on one workout and 2 other mediuum length runs, and they were fine. Although. those shoes fit perfectly- probably better than any other racing shoes i've ever had
If you're just getting another pair of the same shoes, they shouldn't need much breaking in....maybe a couple of runs. I'd probably throw in some strides with them as well.
If you're getting a completely different pair, maybe one you've never tried...I'd say you're taking a gamble. At the least, do your longest scheduled workout in them, maybe your "long" run this weekend?
