properly coached for 4-7 years, about 15-16 minutes.
Around 19 minutes.
About 30 minutes. The average "relatively" fit college girls diet consists of long island iced tea's and hangover pizza. So around 160 pounds for a 5'5" female.
at least tell us what 'average relatively fit' means.
like, what mile shape is an average relatively fit college female in to begin with before she gets properly trained?
I would think around 8:00 min pace for a 5k would be reasonable
Average girl at Ivy league: 22:50
Average girl at private D3: 23:45
Average girl at D1 University: 25:00
Average 'relatively fit' being the operative words here, girl from New Jersey or the Deep South: 50:00
Actually never mind, 19 minutes seems too optimistic as that is a pretty good time for a female and I've known runners who have done everything right and run a lot of mileage who are in the 18-19 minute range (and these are ones I would consider fairly talented in that they started out at least in the 7 minute range for their first ever mile). Maybe 21 minutes is a better answer?
my reply is based on a female with total commitment to reaching her ultimate potential and is willing to GRADUALLY increase training to the point that 70 - 90 a week is comfortable enough that she can concentrate on the goal paces which will be improved over the years.
and about diet there has to be a commitment to eat ENOUGH, but not eat TOO MUCH. a fat person wont reach their potential and neither will an anorexic/bulemic person. also like a car needs fuel a person needs foods that will give energy in a way that will best serve that sport with accomodations for that specific athlete, meaning a perfect diet in most peoples mind MAY leave a specific individual feeling weak and tired, one athlete may thrive on a certain diet whereas another may fall apart eating the same diet.
remember progression must be gradual but increasing for a few years, to get to the point you can reach your time goals.
in my opinion training knowledge is still in its infancy,
what is the best way to train/the best training schedule? i dont know and i doubt anyone else does either.
i would advise solid and consistent workouts like
6 x 1 mile
10 x 800
10 x 1k
10 miles at good tempo
during base done 2 maybe 3 x a week. and NOT SPECTACULAR workouts that leave you wiped out for over a week. example
60 x 400
good luck and remember dream big and work hard if you do the best you can you are a success.
