Big local races are coming up. 5K, 10K, and half marathon. My target marathon is 3 weeks later. I want to support the local races so I can't decide whether I should run the 10K or the half as one last tune-up towards the marathon. I wish it was 4 or 5 weeks between the local race and my marathon but it isn't. Whichever local race I run, I doubt I can keep myself from going 100% effort for a PR once I toe the line. So would it be better to race the 10K or half 3 weeks out from my target marathon? And why?
